About FLIR Ultrasonic Leak Detectors

FLIR ultrasonic leak detectors are advanced acoustic imaging cameras designed to detect and pinpoint leaks in compressed air systems, gas lines, and vacuum systems. They utilise an array of 124 low-noise MEMS microphones to capture ultrasonic sound waves produced by leaks, converting them into precise acoustic images. These images are overlaid in real-time onto digital photographs, allowing users to accurately pinpoint leak sources, even in noisy industrial environments.

Key Features

  • High Sensitivity: Capable of detecting small leaks, with a minimum detection threshold of 0.004 l/min at 1.2 bar from less than 1 meter in quiet environments.
  • Real-Time Analysis: Provides immediate visualisation of leak locations and quantifies leak rates, enabling prompt maintenance decisions.
  • User-Friendly Operation: Designed for one-handed use, featuring automatic frequency filtering and distance measurement to simplify the detection process.

Equipped with wireless connectivity, these detectors enable users to import acoustic images and measurement data to the FLIR Thermal Studio software or the Acoustic Camera Viewer Cloud for comprehensive analysis and report creation.

Applications

  • Compressed Air Systems: Identifying and quantifying leaks to reduce energy costs and improve system efficiency.
  • Vacuum Systems: Locating faults that can compromise system performance.
  • Gas Leak Detection: Detecting leaks in systems containing gases like CO?, aiding in safety and compliance.
  • High voltage electrical systems: Identifying and analysing partial discharge (PD) phenomena.

By incorporating FLIR ultrasonic leak detectors into regular maintenance routines, facilities can proactively address inefficiencies, prevent equipment failures, and achieve significant cost savings.
