Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester Description

The Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester is an accurate, adaptable and easy-to-use multifunctional measurement instrument. It can be combined with an array of compatible OPTIONAL Testo probes (the hot wire probe is the ONLY probe included in this kit) in order to measure a variety of environmental parameters such as:

  • Volume of flow in ducts/ outlets
  • Funnel measurements
  • Degree of turbulence
  • Cooling/ heating output

This instrument can also be used to locate mould. All of the aforementioned measurements and functions are easily accessible via the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester’s clearly structured measurement menu. Furthermore, the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester will automatically identify the detected probe and will adjust its measurement parameters accordingly, thereby improving both the ease and efficiency of testing.

Additionally, as the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester recognises the connected probe and adjusts the parameters accordingly, the probes are the only items that require calibration. This reduces calibration costs and allows the user to keep the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester in continuous use thereby reducing losses caused by downtime.

It is possible to connect up to three probes to the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester at any one time; for instance, the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester can accommodate a Bluetooth Probe (NOT included), a wired probe (hot wire probe included), a temperature probe with a type-K thermocouple connector (NOT included).

The Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester can be used with Bluetooth probes to conduct measurements up to twenty metres away from the Testo 440, eliminating the need for long cables and adding to the practicality of this instrument. It is also possible to send data to print using the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester’s Bluetooth capabilities and a compatible Testo Bluetooth/ IRDA printer.

Data is saved to the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester’s internal memory, which has the capacity to store up to 7500 measurement protocols. Data can be exported to a PC using a USB cable. Once uploaded onto a PC, collected data may be processed as a CSV file.

It is also possible to view data via the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester’s large, graphic display capable of indicating three readings in parallel. The inclusion of magnets means that the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester can be held in an easy-to-see place throughout the measurement period, freeing the user’s hands for conducting measurements using the probes.

These magnets also prove particularly useful when conducting long-term measurements. The user is able to enter the measurement period and intervals into the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester, allowing him/her to monitor measurements over long periods of time.

It is also possible to enter the dimensions and geometry of a duct’s cross-section into the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester, thereby allowing the user to view the volume flow instantly via the display. Again, this improves testing efficiency and ease.

When used with a compatible turbulence probe (NOT included), the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester is able to measure turbulence in accordance with EN ISO 7730/ ASHRAE 55, even in low air velocities; it will also automatically calculate the draught risk.

Testo (06351032) Ø9mm Digital Hot Wire Probe with 1.7m Fixed Cable Description

The Testo Ø9mm Digital Hot Wire Probe can be used with the above Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester to measure the air velocity and air temperature in ventilation ducts of various sizes.

Additionally, the Testo Ø9mm Digital Hot Wire Probe can be used with the Testo 440 to determine the volume flow inside the duct. The user needs only enter the dimensions and geometry of the duct’s cross-section into the Testo 440 to determine this value automatically.

It is also possible to program the Testo 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester to conduct timed and multi-point mean calculations using the Testo Ø9mm Digital Hot Wire Probe. The Testo 440 can also be set to determine the average volume flow reading, and the current, minimum and maximum values detected by the Testo Ø9mm Digital Hot Wire Probe. Moreover, when used in conjunction with the Testo Ø9mm Digital Hot Wire Probe, the Testo 440 can be used to measure the air velocity, volume flow and air temperature in parallel.

The Testo Ø9mm Digital Hot Wire Probe is connected to the Test 440 Air Velocity and IAQ Tester via a fixed cable. Its integrated temperature sensor facilitates the measurement of air temperatures, whilst its integrated absolute pressure measurement maintains the Testo Ø9mm Digital Hot Wire Probe’s accuracy by conducting air density compensation. Also working to preserve the accuracy and reliability of the Testo Ø9mm Digital Hot Wire Probe is its rotatable protective cap which protects the air velocity sensor from dirt and mechanical stress.

Finally, the Testo Ø9mm Digital Hot Wire Probe is equipped with an integrated telescope which may be extended to 0.85m enabling the measurement of larger ventilation ducts.
