This high voltage AC tester can generate voltage output from 0 to 10kV and is used in testing insulation systems and breakdown voltage.
Voltage on the KV10-120 is completely variable across the entire range. A special zero-voltage interlocking function is included which ensures that the output may only be energised with the voltage control set up zero.
Both output voltage and current values are measured and displayed by two separate analogue indicators built into the body of the tester. The voltmeter scale has range of x0.5, while the mA (current) meter has x0.1 range.
For extra safety, the KV10-120's output and - in extension - the object being tested are protected by a user-adjustable electronic current trip. This can be set from 10 to 110% of the rated output in 10% steps. When voltage breakdown occurs in the test object, the KV10-120 uses visual indicators to display this fault condition.

Overload Protection | Two overload protection circuits are provided on the units. The first is user-selectable and allows trip currents between 10 and 110% of the rated output to be a set. A trip condition is indicated by an illuminated push button and audible alarm. The second trip circuit is a magnetic circuit breaker operating on the primary of the HV transformer. This operates on large overloads (such as under flashovers) | ||
Protection and Safety | Fuse protection Meets requirements of BS EN61010 Earth terminal on transformers which must be connected to a low impedance local earth |
