The Socket & See SP400 Proving Unit can be used to verify the functionality of multimeters, two pole voltage indicators and non-contact voltage detectors both before and after testing, as specified in the Working Practice for Electricians.
The Socket & See SP400 Proving Unit is able to generate test voltages between 50 and 690V. These voltages are generated at 50Hz, allowing the proving unit to synthesise tests at an AC mains supply frequency, and have a true AC waveform output. This ensures that the Socket & See SP400 Proving Unit will always produce a correct reading using the AC range of the tester- or multimeter-under-investigation.
Furthermore, the generation of test voltages at 50Hz serves as a safety function. The Socket & See SP400 Proving Unit is also equipped with an intelligent voltage ramp (voltages are generated in five steps 50V, 100V, 230V, 400V and 690V) for safely and reliably testing multimeters and voltage indicators, as well as a non-contact voltage indicator test feature which expands the proving unit’s scope for use.
This battery-powered proving unit’s versatility is further improved by its ability to illuminate old filament style test lamps. Throughout testing the Socket & See SP400 Proving Unit will operate automatically and will automatically switch off when the checks have been concluded.
The Socket & See SP400 Proving Unit is an easy-to-use, versatile, safe and powerful test instrument. It is ideal for electricians requiring a method by which to verify the functionality of his/her multimeter, two-pole voltage indicator and/or non-contact voltage detector.
