Seaward’s Solar Survey equipment are absolutely ideal tools for any engineer working on the installation of solar equipment, and the devices are designed to make the installation of solar photovoltaic panels as easy as possible.
This model, the Seaward Solar Survey 200R, is an upgraded version of Seaward’s Solar Survey 100. The main difference between the two is that the 200R firstly features integrated wireless technology known as SolarLink – this mode allows the tester to interface wirelessly with a Seaward PV150 Solar Installation Tester (sold separately). This allows gained irradiance, ambient temperature and photovoltaic module readings to be transmitted automatically to the PV150 to form comprehensive records as required by MCS and BS EN 62446 standards.
The 200R also includes built-in data logging capability and USB ports for downloading test data (it stores up to 5000 readings). The logging facility can actually be set on a time scale, allowing users to leave the tester taking readings for an extended period of time in order to discover problems or to better understand the solar input from photovoltaic panels. This data can then be transferred via the USB to PC, and can be used to form installation reports with comprehensive information.
The main purpose of the 200R is to measure solar irradiance levels between a range of 100- 1250w/m-2 or 0 – 500 BTU/hr-ft2 but it can also be used to measure temperature between a range of -30 to 125°C and includes a compass and inclinometer for measuring roof pitch and roof orientation.
To aid with making results gained using the 200R as accurate as possible this tester has an integrated photovoltaic reference cell, widely known for being more accurate when measuring solar energy compared to solar irradiance meters that utilises photo diode detectors.
