Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester Description
The Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester can be used to conduct the following tests:
- Low current earth continuity test with Zap circuit, guaranteeing accurate measurements
- Insulation resistance
- IEC lead test
- Protective conductor current
- Touch current
- Load power/current
- Alternative leakage current
- RCD test
- Power socket test
- Class 2 FE (5th edition update)
This instrument can also perform point-to-point fixed appliance tests for earth continuity and insulation resistance. These extensive testing capabilities ensure that large volumes of portable appliances may be checked in accordance with the IET 5th Edition Code of Practice. Furthermore, the Apollo 500+ includes an integrated risk assessment tool with retest calculator, facilitating the user’s ability to determine suggested retest periods.
Moreover, the tests included on this instrument can be arranged into up to 100 user-customised electrical and visual inspection sequences. This tester also includes an extensive memory capable of storing up to 10 000 test results. These features facilitate the Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester’s ability to check extensive volumes of various portable appliances.
Further to this, the Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester is an updated version of Seaward’s Apollo 500 PAT Tester and as such includes a number of firmware and hardware alterations optimised to improve its versatility, adaptability and ease-of-operation.
Hardware Features
As the Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester is an updated version of the Apollo 500, the design of this instrument has been modelled on its predecessor. Therefore it continues to include a QWERTY keyboard and high-definition, colour display.
However; this tester differs in regards to the inclusion of an interchangeable, rechargeable battery which reduces the instrument’s downtime, especially as this instrument can also be powered using a mains supply.
In addition to this, the Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester is supplied with a wiring harness, test leads featuring strong PVC insulation and resilient probes, making the Apollo 500+ better suited to demanding applications.
These updates add to the practicality and versatility of the instrument; its firmware updates work towards the same end.
The 2020 5th edition hardware update also allows for the increase in protective and touch leakage limits to 5mA rather than 3.5m.A.

- The ‘View Data Menu’ has been altered to facilitate faster scrolling and a more advanced search. The user is able to filter results with regards to specifications including the PASS/ FAIL status of each test.

- ‘Worst’ and ‘Last’ options are included as part of the leakage test
- The user interface can be tailored to the operator’s preferences via the deletion of unwanted options from the predictive drop-down menus

- Downloaded files may be named using unique identifiers, ensuring that they are easy to locate

The new 5th Edition firmware will also be available to download free of charge for current Apollo users who will be able to update to the new firmware and benefit from the new test features.
Note: in existing Apollos touch current tests will be limited by the hardware to 3.5mA.

Seaward Test ‘n’ Tag Elite Bundle Kit Description
The Seaward Test ‘n’ Tag Elite Bundle Kit improves the efficiency and ease with which the Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester can conduct portable appliance checks. The tools included in this kit (see below) facilitate the tester’s ability to read and print 2D QR data codes.
