The Sauter SW Sound Level Meters are available in two models that vary in regards to their accuracy classes, measurement and frequency ranges, and sensitivity. Please see the table below for further details.
Model Code | Model Name |
Measuring Range Linear dB |
Frequency Range dB |
Sensitivity V/Pa |
Accuracy Class |
SW 1000 | Sauter SW 1000 Sound Level Meter | 22-136 | 0.003-20 kHz | 50 m V/Pa | 1 |
SW 2000 | Sauter SW 2000 Sound Level Meter | 25-136 | 0.02-12.5 kHz | 40 m V/Pa | 2 |
The Sauter SW Sound Level Meters can be used to measure the noise intensity of workplaces, particularly outdoor work environments such as airports, building sites and road construction sites. Its highly accurate 24-bit A/D converter provides the sound meter with a broad spectrum thereby facilitating the measurement of external environments. It also features an analogue frontend switch designed to expand the linear measurement range by reducing ambient noise, as well as a front point evaluation feature optimised for increasing the instrument's accuracy and stability.
The Sauter SW Sound Level Meters are able to detect measurements in excess of 120dB due to the inclusion of a specially-developed algorithm. These instruments also feature user-selectable sound pressure levels (Laeq, LcPeak, LaF, LaFMax, LaFMin, SD, SEL and E), recording frequencies (10, 5 or 2 Hz), and user-defined integral interval measurements (up to a maximum of 24 hours).
The operator is also able to select from three time-interval modes during measurement, these include F (fast), S (slow) and I (pulse). It is possible to configure the Sauter SW Sound Level Meters to perform automatic measurements when placed in the timer function.
Moreover, the user is able to program the Sauter SW Sound Level Meter to include upper and lower tolerance limits. When these limits are reached and/or breached the Sauter SW Sound Level Meter will issue an optical alarm.
As well as the above Alarm function, the Sauter SW Sound Level Meters include the following measurement functions:
- Peak Hold: records the maximum value detected over the course of the measurement period
- Octavo: allows the user to analyse particular sounds
- Track: allows the user to monitor sound over a period of time; results are indicated graphically
Measurements are viewable via the Sauter SW Sound Level Meters’ displays and can be saved to their integrated memories using the Data Logging function. Data logged to the sound meter is saved with the date and time. This data may be transferred to the included 4GB MicroSD memory card; alternatively, it may be sent to a PC or printer via the Sauter SW Sound Level Meters’ RS-232 or USB interfaces. The Sauter SW Sound Level Meters also feature an analogue interface allowing them to be connected to analogue instruments for the processing of measurements.
In addition to viewing measurements via the display, the user may also view LN statistics and a graph detailing the recorded sound measurements in relation to time. The Sauter SW Sound Level Meters are able to calculate three profiles and fourteen user-defined measurements in parallel, with different frequency and time weightings. The Sauter SW Sound Level Meters feature A, B, C and Z frequency weighting filters. Menus and results can be displayed in one of five operating languages (English, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese).
Finally, as well as the aforementioned measurement features and functions, the Sauter SW Sound Level Meters also include a number of modes and accessories designed to improve their practicality. For instance, these meters are equipped with a Calibration mode (for use with an OPTIONAL calibrator), and a Trigger mode, allowing the user to switch the instrument on or off using an analogue signal and a 3.5mm plug.
It is also possible to attach an OPTIONAL stand to the back of the Sauter SW Sound Level Meters. These instruments also support OPTIONAL battery operation (4x 1.5V AA, NOT included). However, the Sauter SW Sound Level Meters are supplied with a mains adapter, as well as a robust carry case allowing them to be transported across and between rugged environments.
The Sauter SW Sound Level Meters are comprehensive Class I and Class II sound meters. They are ideal for measuring noise intensity in busy, outdoor work environments.
