The Sauter HO Ultrasound Hardness Tester is available in four standard models. These instruments differ in regards to their hardness scales, please see the table below for more information.
Model | Hardness Scale |
HO 1K | HV1 |
HO 2K | HV2 |
HO 5K | HV5 |
HO 10K | HV10 |
These hardness testers provide an alternative method to traditional Brinell, Rockwell, Leeb and Vickers tests. Sauter HO Ultrasound Hardness Testers use ultrasonic frequencies and a vibrating rod combined with a Vickers indenter in order to determine a hardness value. This method usually does not a require heavy test object; it reduces the damage inflicted on the material under investigation and removes the need for a microscope or optical system in order to measure scratch dimensions.
Therefore these hardness testers are ideal for quick, accurate, on-site hardness testing.
The Sauter HO Ultrasound Hardness Testers have been optimised for measuring:
- Small forgings
- Castings
- Welding points
- Punched parts
- Casting tools
- Ball bearings
- Flanks of gear wheels
These instruments are also well suited to measuring the effects of heat on a material's hardness.
In addition to measuring a material’s hardness, the Sauter HO Ultrasound Hardness Testers can also determine (and indicate on its backlit, digital display) the number of measurements taken; the maximum, minimum and average values detected, as well as the standard deviation.
The measurements attained using these hardness testers can be stored in their extensive internal memories which have the capacity to contain up to 1000 measurement groups, each with 20 individual readings. This data may be transferred to a PC using the Sauter HOs’ USB connectivity and included data transfer software. Therefore, as well as being practical, efficient and fast, the Sauter HO Ultrasound Hardness Testers are also convenient.
Their rechargeable batteries and tailorable features also add to these testers' convenience and ease-of-operation. The user is able to adapt these instruments to his/her needs as he/she can set upper and lower tolerance limits and select between metric and non-metric measurement units.
Furthermore, the user can choose how he/she wishes to calibrate the instrument as the Sauter HO Ultrasound Hardness Testers can be calibrated in accordance with a hardness test block or in accordance with up to 20 reference calibration values. The latter method removes the need to constantly re-adjust the hardness tester when testing different materials, allowing the user to perform multiple measurements on various materials quickly.
The Sauter HO Ultrasound Hardness Testers' ergonomic design, selectable features and measurement capabilities make these instruments ideal for advanced, professional applications.
