Sauter FL Digital Force Gauge – Choice of Model

The Sauter FL Digital Force Gauges can be attached to any of Sauter’s tests stands and are supplied with standard Sauter attachments. These models feature an internal sensor unlike their higher range sister product the Sauter FL 2K Digital Force Gauge, available here, which is equipped with an external sensor, tension loops and pressure plates.

The Sauter FL Digital Force Gauges can measure tension and compression forces in a range of selectable measurement units including N, kN, kg, oz, and lbf. Measurements are indicated on the Sauter FL Digital Force Gauges’ graphics-assisted, turnable, backlit displays. Via the display, the user can also view a capacity bar which illuminates in order to indicate the remaining measurement range.

Further to this, results can be saved to the Sauter FL Digital Force Gauges’ internal memories (capacity for 500 measurements). Data may be transferred to a computer for further analysis via the instruments’ USB and bidirectional RS-232 interfaces. These interfaces can also be used to connect the gauges to a printer (OPTIONAL Kern printer required). Information is printed with the date, time and the instrument’s serial number.

In addition to this, the Sauter FL Digital Force Gauges feature an analogue interface allowing the user to connect a suitable peripheral analogue instrument for the monitoring of measurements. These gauges issue a continuous analogue output: a linear voltage signal in dependence to the load, ranging from -2V to +2V.

As well as conducting regular compression and tension measurements, the Sauter FL Digital Force Gauges feature a selection of measurement functions that allow the user to tailor the meter to the application. The Sauter FL Digital Force Gauges include:

• Peak-Hold function: retains the highest measurement detected, this reading is frozen on the display for a short time
• Track function: the displayed result is continually updated (the refresh rate is ten seconds), ensuring that the user is always able to view the most current measurement
• Alarm function: programmable upper and lower limits for both push and pull directions; if any of these limits are breached the gauges will issue a visual alert

Also adding to these instruments’ adaptability is their ability to be powered using either the integrated battery pack or mains adapter. The integrated battery pack is supplied as standard and is able to provide the gauge with up to ten hours of power (backlight off), and has a recharge time of eight hours. Alternatively, the included mains adapter can be used to power the gauges. This allows the user to tailor the instrument to his/her circumstances and reduces instrument downtime.

Finally, the Sauter FL Digital Force Gauges are equipped with a rugged, metal housing, making them suitable for use in harsh conditions. Like their aforementioned adaptability, this adds to their versatility and expands their scope-for-use.
