The Mitutoyo Series 293 QuantuMike Fast Action Waterproof Digital Micrometer delivers quick, accurate measurements. To ensure fast measurement, the Mitutoyo Series 293 QuantuMike Fast Action Waterproof Digital Micrometer utilises a coarser thread that feeds the spindle by 2mm per revolution of the thimble. Additionally, it includes a graduated scale on the sleeve which is designed to be used with the reference mark on the thimble and allows every millimetre of displacement to be seen.

Measurements can be directly inputted into spreadsheet software, such as Excel, using an interface input tool (sold separately) that converts data into keyboard signals.

Furthermore, the Mitutoyo Series 293 QuantuMike Fast Action Waterproof Digital Micrometer features carbide measuring faces. It is resistant to oil, water, and dust ingress (IP65), making it suitable for use in machining situations involving splashing coolant fluid.

Functions

In addition to the above, the Mitutoyo Series 293 QuantuMike Fast Action Waterproof Digital Micrometer includes an array of measurement features and functions. Please note that not all models are equipped with all of the following:

• Origin Point Setting (ABS Measurement System): resets the ABS origin at the current spindle position.
• Zero Setting (INC Measurement System): briefly pressing the ZERO/ ABS button zeroes the display at the current spindle position and switches the micrometer to Incremental (INC) Measuring mode. Pressing the ZERO/ABS button for longer resets the micrometer to ABS Measuring mode.
• Hold: retains the current measurement on the display.
• Data Output (OPTIONAL): a data output port enables the transfer of data into Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems and facilitates integration into SPC and measurement systems.
• Auto Power On/Off: the LCD will switch off after twenty minutes of idleness; however, the reading and measurement mode are retained and can be recalled by turning the spindle.
• Error Alarm: a battery indicator warns the user when the battery voltage becomes low. Additionally, the micrometer will display an error message and halt measurement in the event of display overflow or a calculation error. Measurement cannot be resumed until the error is fixed.
• Function Lock: locks the ORIGIN (origin point setting) and ZERO (zero-setting) functions to prevent accidental or unauthorised alteration.

Patented Ratchet Thimble Mechanism

The patented ratchet thimble mechanism helps ensure repeatable results by transmitting micro-vibrations along the spindle to the contact face to provide a constant measuring force and encourage good contact with the workpiece. The ratchet works from the thimble as well as the speeder so it is always easy to use – even when making measurements one handed. The sound of the ratchet provides the user with a sense of confidence and the speeder enables the rapid spindle feed needed when measuring widely different dimensions.

Ratchet-induced micro-vibrations along the spindle help ensure repeatable measurements.

Improved One-hand Measuring time

According to Mitutoyo’s comparison test data for measuring time on typical workpieces, positioning times are reduced by around 75%. This results in a reduction in measuring cycle times of about 60% compared with a conventional micrometer.
