Metrel MI 3299 High Voltage Demonstration Box (10kV)

The Metrel MI 3299 High Voltage Demonstration Box (10kV) is primarily optimised for simulating the electrical insulation usually present in industrial environments. As such, it is of particular use to training centres, schools and laboratories as well as sales personnel wishing to demonstrate insulation diagnostics measurements with a DC test voltage and/or the functionality and capabilities of HV insulation testers.

Incidentally, as the Metrel MI 3299 High Voltage Demonstration Box (10kV) has been designed for demonstrating high voltage insulation diagnostics it is also suitable for calibrating DC high voltage insulation testers.

The Metrel MI 3299 High Voltage Demonstration Box (10kV) is equipped with a number of components that make it suitable for both calibration and demonstration applications. For instance, it is able to show the insulation breakdown of gases and the inclusion of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ cables, made from insulation materials of varying suitability, allows the user to demonstrate real insulation behaviours under high DC voltages.

The Metrel MI 3299 High Voltage Demonstration Box (10kV) is also equipped with 10kV-rated resistors with a low voltage coefficient; a resistive decade with 200 kΩ, 500 MΩ, 200 GΩ and 2 TΩ resistors; as well as 2.5 µF- and 5 nF-range high voltage capacitors. These components, along with the Metrel MI 3299 High Voltage Demonstration Box’s integrated spark gap and gas discharge tube, facilitate this tool’s ability to demonstrate the above phenomenon as well as the following measurements:

• Polarisation index (PI)
• Dielectric discharge (DD)
• Dielectric absorption ratio (DAR)

Finally, the Metrel MI 3299 High Voltage Demonstration Box (10kV) is supplied in a rugged case with a handle for easy and secure transportation.
