The Metrel MI3121H SMARTEC® Insulation & Continuity Tester features a wide measurement range (100GΩ) and extensive testing capabilities making it suitable for checking the insulation and continuity of CAT IV installations (such as those found in industrial plants), cable lines, current and voltage transformers, and electric motors.
This portable insulation and continuity tester has an insulation resistance range of up to 100GΩ and is able to supply test voltages between 100 and 2500V. In addition to this, the Metrel MI3121H SMARTEC® Insulation & Continuity Tester features the following testing capabilities which expand its scope-for-use:
Calculation of PI and DAR allow the user to determine if the insulation is damaged or contaminated. These additional measurement capabilities make the Metrel MI3121H SMARTEC® Insulation & Continuity Tester suitable for troubleshooting electrical installations, observing insulation trends and testing main and supplementary PE connections.
To ensure measurement accuracy, the Metrel MI3121H SMARTEC® Insulation & Continuity Tester includes a guard test terminal that eliminates potential surface leakage currents.
Further to this, the Metrel MI3121H SMARTEC® Insulation & Continuity Tester supports user-configurable measurement limits for insulation and continuity tests. This allows the user to tailor the instrument to the application and also facilitates the quick PASS/ FAIL evaluation of measurements. Results are indicated on the tester’s large, backlit LCD display and are accompanied by a green, pass light when they are within range or a red, fail light when the result is outside of the user-specified limits.
Via the display, the user is able to view results in both a numeric and analogue format. These measurements and their accompanying parameters may be saved to the Metrel MI3121H SMARTEC® Insulation & Continuity Tester’s integrated, two-tier memory. Saved information can be downloaded to a PC with Metrel’s EuroLink Pro Software (NOT included) installed via an RS-232 or USB cable. Once downloaded, results may be subjected to analysis and/or organised into professional reports using the Metrel EuroLink Pro Software.
In addition to an integrated memory, the Metrel MI3121H SMARTEC® Insulation & Continuity Tester is also equipped with an integrated charger and is supplied with a set of rechargeable NiMH batteries. A magnetic holder is also included with this instrument allowing the user to fix the tester to a magnetic surface thereby facilitating hands-free usage.
The Metrel MI3121H SMARTEC® Insulation & Continuity Tester’s large function buttons also add to its ease-of-use as they allow the user to operate the tester whilst wearing protective work gloves.
