Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer

The Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer can be used to locate faults on metallic paired cables. It features a variety of functions designed to improve the ease and efficiency of locating cable faults, as well as a rugged, simple-to-use design.

The Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer is compact and durable. It has an IP rating of 54. It also features a large, high-resolution, colour, WVGA display, as well as directional control buttons and soft keys for navigating the Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer’s intuitive and simple user interface.

In addition to this, the user is able to select from eight colour schemes, including default and outdoor, as well as two custom slots that allow the user to specify the colour of up to seven screen elements. This allows the user to tailor the Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer to his/her environment and/or his/her requirements. The array of colour palettes ensures that the Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer is able to accommodate eye conditions such as colour blindness.

Furthermore, the Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer’s various colour palettes, combined with the display’s white backlight and high resolution, adds to the ease and clarity with which key events within a trace can be identified.

The Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer can be set to display readings in either metres or feet and has a minimum resolution of 0.1m/ 0.3 ft. This instrument also has a maximum range of 20 km/ 65 kft (depending on the velocity factor and cable type) and can be programmed to meet the requirements of any cable by setting the velocity factor to a value between 0.2 and 0.99.

This cable fault locator also includes a range of output impedances: 25Ω, 50Ω, 75Ω, 100Ω and 125Ω. It can be manually programmed to issue one of the aforementioned output impedances; alternatively, the Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer includes an automatic impedance matching feature that is part of its Auto Selection function.

The Auto Selection function will select the most relevant gain and pulse for each range and will match the output impedance to the cable, ensuring that the Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer is always set to the most effective parameters, thereby increasing the speed with which traces can be diagnosed. As indicated above, the Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer’s Auto Selection function can be overridden allowing the operator to specify the output impedance as well as other parameters. This manual function proves particularly useful when attempting to identify hard-to-determine faults.

The Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer includes a number of features, functions and modes in addition to the Auto Selection function.

AutoFind Mode

This mode is optimised for identifying faults quickly. When engaged, the AutoFind Mode will automatically adjust the gain and range in order to identify faults using the most efficient method possible.

When the AutoFind Mode button is pressed it will place the cursor at the first event on the cable; if pressed for a second time it will move the cursor to the next detected disturbance.

Dual Trace and Dual Cursor

Dual trace and dual cursor capabilities improve the flexibility and adaptability of the Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer. They also equip the user with complete control and ensure that he/she receives an instant indication of the distance between two points.

Trace Comparison

Enables a comprehensive examination of trace conditions, facilitating the user’s ability to identify key events quickly, accurately and reliably.

Up to one-hundred traces with alphanumeric identifiers can be saved to the Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer’s internal memory using the Trace Tagging function. Alphanumeric identifiers may be up to 32 characters in length including capital and accented letters.

It is possible to view traces saved to the Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer’s internal memory using the on-screen recall function. This allows the user to conduct further analysis as well as compare the recorded trace with the active trace.

Furthermore, the supplied USB lead can be used to export saved data to a PC or laptop via a USB port. The Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer is also supplied with Megger’s TraceXpert Software suitable for downloading and uploading data as well as creating reports.

Finally, this instrument is provided with a Li-ion rechargeable battery capable of supplying up to twelve hours of power.

The Megger TDR2010 Dual Channel Power Plus Time Domain Reflectometer is a practical, portable and precise cable fault locator and can be adapted to suit a variety of applications, environments and requirements.
