The Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Tester (15kV) is available in two models. These models differ only in that the Megger S1-1568-TC-UK Diagnostic Insulation Tester (1009-737) is supplied with a transport case whereas the Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Tester (1002-892) is not supplied with a transport case.
The transport case supplied with the Megger S1-1568-TC-UK model can be used to store the diagnostic insulation tester as well as two standard test lead sets, fused test leads, and a set of screened test leads. This rugged case proves particularly useful when storing the Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Tester in a vehicle and improves work efficiency by ensuring that all the equipment required is kept in the same place.
The Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers have been optimised for testing cables, transformers, motors/ generators and bushings. They are of particular use to power utilities and service companies working in generation, transmission and distribution industry sectors.
These 15kV models are safety rated to CAT IV 1000V up to 4000m and include the following testing capabilities:
- Resistance measurements: 35TΩ at 15kV
- Current: 0.01na to 6mA
- High current: 6mA short circuit current
- Capacitance: 10nF to 50µF
- Voltage: 30V to 660V AC/DC (45Hz- 65Hz)
The Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers also feature pre-configured diagnostics tests for Polarisation Index (PI), Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR), Dielectric Discharge (DD) and Stepped Voltage (SV), as well as Ramp Tests. They also include five pre-set voltages for use in the Insulation Test mode. Additionally, the user is able to set a lock voltage range.
The Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers’ extensive measurement capabilities, particularly their 6mA short circuit current check, combined with their high noise immunity (8mA of noise rejection) and four software filters (10s, 30s, 100s and 200s) makes them Megger’s most advanced DC insulation resistance testers to date.
Accessing and running the Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers’ numerous tests and checks is made simple by the inclusion of two rotary switches and a graphical quick-start guide included on the inside of the lid; this guide serves a useful reference tool for first-time users. These instruments are also equipped with an intuitive user interface again adding the ease, as well as the efficiency, of operations.
It is also possible to run automated resistance tests remotely via a USB cable. This makes the Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers of particular use to original equipment manufacturers and repairers, as well as substation technicians wishing to perform tests at a safer, more convenient distance.
Test results are indicated on the ohmmeters' large, backlit, LCD displays. It is possible to view multiple results simultaneously via these displays. The Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers also feature an integrated memory to which test results can be saved. It is possible to download recorded measurements to Megger's asset management software (PowerDB Pro, Lite or Advanced) via an isolated USB cable or an integrated Bluetooth® interface.
The Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Tester also includes a real-time clock for date and time stamping measurements and has the capacity to store measurements with the temperature and humidity (measured independently). Saved data can be viewed on the Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers' displays using the on-screen recall function.
The Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers are powered using Li-on, IEC62133-compliant batteries which provide up to four and a half hours of power and take only two hours to recharge. If the user finds the Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers' batteries have gone flat, he/she may power the instruments via an AC power source. These features all work to reduce the Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers' downtime.
Also adding to the practicality of these instruments is their robust outer cases and fire-retardant inner cases. The Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers are protected from dust and water ingress as well as potential damage caused by rugged environments. Their lids may be removed to facilitate easier access to test terminals; they also include a clip-on lead pouch for storing test leads.
The Megger S1-1568 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers are sophisticated, simple-to-use and safety-optimised ohmmeters. They are ideal for technicians requiring a tool to test the insulation of equipment used within the generation, distribution and transmission industry sectors.
