The Megger S1-1068 UK Diagnostic Insulation Tester (10kV) is a high-performance ohmmeter optimised for use within the generation, transmission and distribution industry sectors. They can be used to check the insulation of cables, transformers, motors/generators and bushings and may be of particular use to service companies, power utilities companies, substation technicians, and original equipment manufacturers and repairers.

The two models available feature the same testing capabilities and differ only in that the Megger S1-1068-TC-UK Diagnostic Insulation Tester (1009-733) is supplied with a transport case capable of storing the ohmmeter, two standard test lead sets, fused test leads, and a set of screened test leads, thereby ensuring that all the required equipment is kept neatly in the same place. This case is also particularly useful when storing the ohmmeter in a vehicle. Please note that the standard Megger S1-1068 UK Diagnostic Insulation Tester (1003-008) is NOT supplied with this transport case.

These instruments also include five pre-set voltages and a user-settable lock voltage range for use in the Insulation Test mode. The Megger S1-1068 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers are some of Megger’s most advanced DC ohmmeters; in addition to above testing capabilities, they include a high noise immunity (8mA of noise rejection) and four software filters (10s, 30s, 100s and 200s).

These testers are safety rated to CAT IV 600V up to 3000m. Furthermore, in the interests of safety and convenience, Megger’s S1-1068 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers can be operated remotely via a USB cable allowing substation technicians (for instance) to perform automated resistance test sequences from a safe and convenient distance.

Readings are indicated on the Megger S1-1068 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers’ large, backlit, LCD displays. It is possible to view multiple measurements simultaneously via the display as well as a real-time clock which allows results to be saved with a date and time stamp. Measurements can also be saved with the temperature and humidity (measured independently) and can be retrieved from the Megger S1-1068 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers’ integrated memories using the on-screen recall function.

Data may be downloaded to Megger’s asset management software (PowerDB Lite or Advanced) via an isolated USB Cable or the Megger S1-1068 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers’ integrated Bluetooth® interfaces.

The Megger S1-1068 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers’ features and functions can be navigated easily via their two rotary switches and intuitive user interfaces. The removable lids of these ohmmeters, facilitating better access to test terminals, include a graphical quick-start guide which serves as an excellent reference tool for first-time users.

The Megger S1-1068 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers are equipped with a robust outer case and fire-retardant inner case and are protected from dust and water ingress as well as any potential damage that may be caused by rugged environments. The lids of these testers also include a clip-on pouch for storing test leads.

Finally, the Megger S1-1068 UK Diagnostic Insulation Testers are equipped with an IEC62133-compliant, Li-on battery capable of providing up to four and a half hours of power. It is possible to recharge this battery within two hours. Furthermore, if the user finds that the battery has gone flat, he/she may power the ohmmeter via an AC power source, thereby reducing downtime.
