Megger's OTS80PB is used for testing the integrity of insulating oil. It is suitable for use for mineral, ester and silicon insulation liquids and features an integrated precision oil vessel with lockable adjustment for comprehensive evaluation of an oil sample.
Once the oil is inserted into the testing chamber a transparent safety lid is closed over the sample, ensuring that voltage doesn't stray outside the tester while allowing the user to clearly see what is happening within the test chamber. The sample of oil inside the tester is gradually subjected to a testing voltage of up to 60kV over a time period, allowing the user to determine the oils' ability to resist electrical stress levels (oil begins to breakdown after a certain level of stress).
The supplied oil vessel (400ml) comes with precise electrode alignment and adjustment wheels for locking electrodes in position. The oil chamber is designed to be easy-to-clean and includes an oil draining facility for safely removing oil content after testing.
Tests on the OTS80PB are carried out to various national standards and it comes with a number of programmed test sequences as well as 3 custom test sequences that can be configured by the user.
Standard tests built into the oil test set are:
ASTM D 1816-04 BS EN 60156-96 SABS EN60156
ASTM D 877A-02 CEI EN 60156-95 VDE0370 part 5
ASTM D 877B-02 IRAM 2341 AS1767.2.1
IEC 60156-95 UNE EN 60156 PA SEV EN60156
NF EN 60156 JIS C 2101-99 (M) JIS C 2101-99 (S)
The OTS80PB also features a dual redundant micro-switch HV cut off function, zero volt touch bar and a full colour display with backlight is integrated into the unit to view detailed information about oil breakdown.
