Megger MRCT Relay & Current Transformer Test Set

Lightweight, portable, and robust the Megger MRCT Relay & Current Transformer Test Set is a configurable meter designed for performing demagnetisation, ratio, saturation, winding resistance, polarity, phase deviation, and insulation resistance readings on current transformers (CTs). It will also automatically calculate ratio errors, saturation curves, and knee points.

To reduce testing time and increase productivity, the Megger MRCT Relay & Current Transformer Test Set provides a microprocessor-controlled variable voltage and current output as well as precision instrumentation enabling automatic testing of single and multi-ratio CTs. Moreover, its industry-leading test duration using patented simultaneous multi-tap measurements reduces testing time by up to 20% on CTs.

Megger MRCT Hardware and Features Overview

Multiple Model Options

Designed to meet the exact requirements of the user, the Megger MRCT Relay & Current Transformer Test Set is completely configurable. It supports options for an integrated VT test system as well as a CT test system. Furthermore, its configurability means it can be upgraded as required to meet future testing needs.

As illustrated in the ordering information above, the Megger MRCT Relay & Current Transformer Test Set can be configured to include a full-colour, high-resolution, LCD touchscreen. Via this interface, you can quickly and easily access manual and automatic tests as well as pre-configured test routines. Additionally, relevant data is indicated on the large, colour display throughout testing and there is an option to view the CT’s saturation curve.

Alternatively, when configured without a display, the Megger MRCT Relay & Current Transformer Test Set can be operated via a laptop with Megger’s PowerDB Software installed. This enables both remote control and computer-controlled automated operation.

CT Testing

Current transformers may be tested in their equipment configuration, for instance, mounted in transformers, oil circuit breakers, or switchgear; however, the equipment must be electrically isolated prior to testing.

The Megger MRCT Relay & Current Transformer Test Set connects directly to multi-ratio CTs and will perform tests on every tap at the push of a button and without lead changes. The Megger MRCT Relay & Current Transformer Test Set delivers accuracy to support the testing of metering and protection class CTs. It offers the following tests:

  • Saturation (plots up to 10 saturation curves simultaneously and supports testing of knee points up to 30kV)
  • Ratio, Polarity
  • Winding Resistance
  • Demagnetisation (automatically demagnetises CTs after testing)
  • CT Burden
  • Insulation Resistance (500V/1000V insulation resistance test system)
  • Grouped: demagnetisation, knee points, ratios, saturation curves, and winding resistance insulation

Data Storage

Test results are stored and catalogued within the Megger MRCT Relay & Current Transformer Test Set. They can be recalled and viewed on the display (configuration dependent) or uploaded to Megger’s Power DBTM Lite PC Software for report generation and saturation curve plotting.

The Megger MRCT Relay & Current Transformer Test Set is a compact, comprehensive, completely configurable current transformer tester.
