The Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester can be used to test the insulation and continuity of domestic appliances, power tools, transformers, motors, generators, switchgear, electrical panels and fixed electrical wiring systems. The Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester is the most sophisticated model in Megger’s MIT200 Series of Insulation and Continuity Testers.
Continuity Testing
The Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester has been designed to perform continuity tests in accordance with international requirements. As such this instrument can be used to measure resistances between 0 and 10Ω using a 200mA test current. However, the Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester is also capable of measuring continuity up to 100Ω.
This instrument also features a Lead Null feature (up to 9.99 Ω of test lead resistance) allowing the operator to null fused, extended and standard test leads, thereby improving the accuracy of testing.
In addition to the Lead Null feature, the Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester includes a number of other functions designed to improve the ease and convenience of testing, these include:
- Auto Start: the Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester will commence continuity testing automatically allowing the user to keep both hands free for holding the test lead probes
- Continuity Buzzer: this function allows the user to identify and test cables for continuity quickly; it has a 2Ω threshold and is equipped with voltage protection should the instrument make accidental contact with a live circuit
Integrated Voltmeter
When the Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester is connected to a circuit or system with a live voltage of 25 V AC/DC or greater the integrated voltmeter is automatically activated. The detected voltage is indicated on the Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester’s display.
Insulation Testing
The Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester features three test voltages: 250 V, 500 V and 1000 V. It can measure insulation resistance up to 1000 MΩ. When testing at 1000 V this instrument will issue a high voltage warning prior to applying the test voltage.
Further to this, the Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester automatically discharges the circuit-under-test once the checks have been completed.
Test Halting
When testing a circuit with a live voltage of 25 V or above, the Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester issues a voltage warning to alert the user to the problem. If a voltage in excess of 50V is detected the Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester will halt both insulation and continuity testing procedures thereby protecting both the user and the instrument from damage.
Safety
The Megger MIT230 is safety rated to CAT III 600V and meets the requirements stipulated in the safety directives IEC 61010 and EN 61557 for insulation and continuity testing. As indicated above, the Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester features a range of integrated safety checks that alert the user when the instrument is connected to a hazardous live circuit, system or supply.
Rugged Design
The Megger MIT230 Insulation & Continuity Tester is contained within a tough ABS housing, making it suitable for use on rough industrial environments. This model is also supplied with a rubber boot, providing the meter with additional protection.
