Megger MFT-X1 Multifunction Tester
Rated to CAT IV 300V, the Megger MFT-X1 Multifunction Tester is Megger’s first platform-based multifunction installation tester suitable for checking single- and three-phase domestic, commercial, and industrial electrical installations. An eclectic array of tests ensure you can carry out detailed fault diagnostics and complete all commissioning maintenance, routine maintenance, and reporting/certification requirements for installations.
Tests
The Megger MFT-X1 offers a wide range of tests including True Loop™ tests with a patented Confidence Meter™, next-generation two-wire and three-wire non-trip loop testing, high resolution 0.001Ω loop tests, automatic volt-drop measurements, and configurable RCD and EV auto-sequences.
See the video section below for an example of the tests
True Loop™
The combination of the latest three-wire, non-trip loop testing technology and a patented Confidence Meter™ delivers a reliable, accurate, and stable loop test that is unmatched within the market. In addition to enabling testing in noisy environments and/or near the supply source, Megger’s True Loop™ prevents RCD uplift, even on circuits protected by 6mA and 10mA protection devices, while reducing test time.
Patented Confidence Meter™
Megger’s patented Confidence Meter™ indicates the progress of the loop measurements and the degree of noise in the circuit, helping you to acquire a stable and consistent reading. The Confidence Meter™ supports all of the Multifunction Tester’s loop impedance ranges and works to reduce testing times, delivering a seven-second non-trip loop test on quiet circuits.
High-Resolution Loop Impedance Testing
Megger’s patented Confidence Meter™ and high-current, two-wire loop impedance test provide accurate measurements with a resolution of 0.001Ω and PFC/PSCC current calculation up to 50kA.
Stabilised Insulation Test Voltage
The stabilised insulation test voltage is accurate to within +2% +2 digits; significantly more precise than the +20% industry standard. As a result, the Megger Multifunction Tester delivers an accurate voltage output and eliminates the risk of over-voltage damage to circuits or sensitive components.
Current Measurement
Optional Megger MCC1010 Current Clamps can be used with the Megger MFT-X1 Multifunction Tester to measure AC current from 1mA to 1000 A.
RCD Configurator
Optimise RCD testing using the tester's RCD configurator. With this tool, you can select the specific RCD tests to be completed within the Auto-RCD Test mode.
Similarly, the MFT-X1 offers the ability to configure EV auto-sequences.
EV Charge Point Testing
When used with the Megger EVCA Adapter, the multifunction tester can check all EV chargers with RCD Type B- or RDC-protected charge points and can carry out all the relevant maintenance and installation measurements.
Clear Display & Easy-to-Use Interface
Equipped with a high-contrast 480 x 272 colour, TFT bonded display, the Megger MFT-X1 Multifunction Tester has been designed to ensure it is both easy to read and easy to use. To this end, it includes a monochrome black-and-white mode specifically for use in difficult lighting conditions and will change colour depending on which test is selected, again, making it easy to use in dim or dark environments. Furthermore, hot keys for second-level functions are indicated along the top of the display and a second control dial enables fast and easy selection, even when wearing protective gloves.
Relevant information is displayed before and after every test, this includes the Confidence Meter™ progress bar, RCD ramp test progress bar, insulation and continuity measurement bar graph, and L-N, L-E, and N-E voltages. Additionally, it provides graphical circuit connection guidance for each measurement to help you through testing.
Finally, the Megger MFT-X1 Multifunction Tester’s operating system is future-proof to guard against changing regulations and testing requirements. It can be updated using a microSD card.
CertSuite™ Compatible
Fully integrated for use with Megger’s CertSuite™ Software Platform (available on a monthly or yearly subscription), test results saved to the tester can be tagged and transferred to a test certificate or report on an iOS or Android smartphone/tablet with the CertSuite™ App installed. This allows reports to be completed on-site by various users without compromising the security of the data as it is protected by the cloud-based application.
Modular Battery
The Megger MFT-X1 can be used with Megger’s Li-Ion battery pack or AA NiMH or alkaline batteries. Smart fuel chip technology optimises battery status accuracy when the multifunction tester is used with a Li-Ion battery pack. Furthermore, the unique battery pack solution means the rechargeable 4 Ahr Li-Ion battery pack can be swapped out for the AA carrier module, ensuring fast and flexible battery changes while maximising uptime.
Megger’s MFT-X1 Multifunction Tester is an industry-leading multifunction installation tester. The MFT-X1 complements its eclectic testing capabilities, including True Loop™ with a patented Confidence Meter™, with practical features such as a colour-changing, TFT bonded display, CertSuite™ compatibility, and a modular battery design.
