The Megger INGVAR Portable Primary Current Injection Test System enables simple testing of protective relay equipment, circuit breakers, all types of switchgear, ground grid and CT commissioning. It is ideal for applications that require high variable currents, such as testing the turns ratio of current transformers.
The Megger INGVAR Portable Primary Current Injection Test System has a maximum current output of 5000A. It also features a unique I/30 (Current Reduction) function that can be used to pre-set the current using a low current to prevent the test sample from heating. This stops the test result from being corrupted.
The Megger INGVAR Portable Primary Current Injection Test System consists of a control unit and current unit that can be easily and quickly assembled in the field. Each of the two units weighs approximately 20kg and is easy to transport. The control unit can calculate and display the current transformer turns ratio, impedance, power, power factor (cos φ) and phase angle. Additionally, current and voltage can be viewed as percentages of nominal values. The Megger INGVAR Portable Primary Current Injection Test System’s fast-action Hold function can be used to freeze the reading on the digital display. Moreover, the control unit includes a second measurement channel which can be used to test an additional voltage or current.
The Megger INGVAR Portable Primary Current Injection Test System is simple-to-use, versatile and practical.
Applications
Primary current injection testing and breaker testing | Provides high currents and the ability to measure very short duration current flow. Extra contacts are not required to measure the operating time of low-voltage breakers and testing stops the instant the main breaker contacts open to interrupt the current. Output current initiation is synchronised with the current's zero-cross-over point to ensure good reliability and minimised DC offset. |
Testing current transformers | During turns ratio testing, the primary current and either the secondary current or the turns ratio are displayed simultaneously. As the turns ratio is displayed as a nominal value further calculation is not required. The burden of the secondary circuit can be measured and presented in VA. |
Polarity Testing | The current phase displacement is displayed and the polarities of the outputs are clearly marked. |
Heat Runs | Current can be applied continuously or at programmed intervals. Times are displayed in minutes and hours enabling long-term testing. |
Automatic Reclosers and Sectionalisers | Test circuit breakers with reclosing relays. Measure the operating limits, partial times, total times and the number of operations before lockout. Supports user-programmable reclosing sequences for testing sectionalisers. |
Testing Integrity of Safety-ground Devices | Inject current through the safety-ground and measure the voltage drop to ascertain the impedance. |
