The Megger EVCC300 Electric Vehicle Charger Checker is an EVSE tester designed for verifying the safety and operation of mode two and single-phase mode three (level one and two-phase level two) electric vehicle charge points. It can check chargers with SAE J1772 type one and type two connectors and is ideal for testing EV chargers after manufacture, installation, and repair, and/or as part of a maintenance routine.
In addition to a nuisance tripping test which determines whether the charger is likely to experience nuisance tripping of RCDs or GFCIs, the Megger EVCC300 Electric Vehicle Charger Checker includes four safety checks and four operation tests.
Safety Checks
- PE touchpad: checks the ground connection and hazardous voltages.
- PE resistance test: verifies that exposed metalwork is properly grounded/earthed.
- Touch voltage test: ensures the charger ground/earth does not rise to a dangerous level when the charger output is on.
- RCD/GFCI check: times the device tripping speed.
Operation Tests
- Proximity detection: checks that proximity is detected and, in the case of a type one connection, the latching detection has worked correctly.
- Control pilot operation: simulating a CP state, the Megger EVCC300 Electric Vehicle Charger Checker reads the response of the charger according to IEC 61852-1.
- Control pilot signal: measures the CP signal’s voltage, frequency, and duty cycle.
- EV charger output: measures the charger’s output voltage and frequency when charging is in progress; it also checks for correct L-N supply polarity when appropriate.
The Megger EVCC300 Electric Vehicle Charger Checker provides a comprehensive, convenient method of checking the safety and operation of EV chargers.
