Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter Description
The Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter can be used to measure low resistances in applications involving railways, aircraft, and industrial components. Its wide scope-for-use is facilitated by an array of measurement modes and testing capabilities.
The Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter is able to provide 10 A into measurements up to 250mΩ and 1A into measurements up to 2.5Ω for a maximum of sixty seconds. As a result of its 10A range for resistances up to 250 mΩ, the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter is suited to measuring thick conductors and bonds, as well as verifying the quality of welding.
Moreover, the ability to select between a high and low output power ensures that the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter can be used to perform condition diagnostics. Additionally, an output of 10A for sixty seconds reduces cool-down time, allowing the user to conduct tests more efficiently.
In addition to this, the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter features the following test modes optimised for various applications.
Bidirectional Mode
This mode conducts measurements with the current flowing in both directions and then averages the results. Bidirectional mode is particularly useful when investigating components, equipment or systems where dissimilar metals are joined causing a thermocouple effect.
Normal Mode
Once all four test leads have been connected to the unit-under-investigation the user presses the ‘Test’ button to activate Normal mode. When activated, the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter will apply forward and reverse currents to all four connections; it will then indicate continuity measurements for the four connection points.
Automatic Mode
Automatic mode is initiated as soon as probes make contact with the unit-under-investigation. The Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter measures the forward and reverse current, displaying the average value. A new test will be performed each time the probes are removed and connected eradicating the need for the user to continually re-initiate the test via pressing the ‘Test’ button. Automatic mode is of particular use when working with handspikes.
Automatic Unidirectional Mode
This mode issues current in a single direction in order to improve the efficiency of testing. Like the mode above, this testing feature is activated automatically once probes are connected to the instrument-under-investigation.
However, please note that when testing dissimilar metal bonds, the resultant thermocouple effect may negatively affect the accuracy of readings.
Continuous Mode
Allows repeat measurements to be conducted on the same sample; the measurement is updated every three seconds until the circuit is broken. To activate this mode, connect the test leads to the item-under-investigation and press the ‘Test’ button.
Inductive Mode
This mode is useful for measuring the resistance of motors and generators. It will issue a single direction current through the unit-under-investigation and continually takes readings until the user deems the voltage to be stable. The test can be terminated by pressing the ‘Test’ button.
The user can select the relevant test mode using the rotary switch control, ensuring that the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter can be operated easily in a variety of weather conditions and with gloved hands. Also adding to this instrument’s ease-of-operation is its large, clear, backlit, LCD display. This display also features contrast adjustment allowing the user to adapt it to suit the environment and/or his/her requirements. Moreover, it remains easy-to-read from a distance.
The user is able to view measurements and parameters via the display as well as a noise symbol that appears when Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter detects electromagnetic noise above the specified threshold which may interfere with the reading. Furthermore, the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter is protected to 600V and will indicate that a test lead has a live voltage via a warning light.
Measurements can be saved to the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter’s internal memory and can be downloaded to a PC, facilitating further analysis. This storage and interfacing feature separates the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter from its sister product the Megger DLRO10HD Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter.
In addition to its memory storage and interfacing capabilities, as well as its comprehensive measurement modes, the design of the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter also adds to its versatility and expands its scope-for-use. The Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter features interchangeable test lead terminals and a rugged design facilitating both ground and bench operation.
This ohmmeter has a hard casing with a removable lid that facilitates easy access to test lead connections. With the lid closed this instrument has an IP rating of 65. When operated (necessitating that the lid is removed) via a battery source, the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter has an IP rating of 54.
The Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter’s casing includes a shoulder strap and lead pouch ensuring that the tester and additional leads can be transported safely, securely and easily.
The Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter is supplied with a 7Ah lead acid battery; alternatively, it can be operated using a line power supply making it suitable for conducting tests in production lines or repetitive use environments. As this instrument can be operated using line power, it remains operational reagardless of the remaining battery life. However, in order to avoid battery expiration, the Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter includes an Auto Power Off function.
The Megger DLRO10HDX Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter is a versatile, adaptable and practical instrument suitable for measuring low resistances in railways, aircraft and industrial environments.
