Martindale MTL15 Drummond Test Lamp

The Martindale MTL15 Drummond Test Lamp is a voltage detector intended for ensuring that high-power instruments under maintenance or repair are safely proven dead prior to commencing any work.  It is ideal for checking wind turbine installations, instruments in energy-intensive process industries, high-power variable speed drives and UPS systems.  

The Martindale MTL15 Drummond Test Lamp has a maximum voltage range of 1000V AC/DC rms and features nominal voltage range indications for 50V, 230V, 400V and 690V AC/DC rms. The range of the detected voltage (up to 690V) is indicated via the illumination of high-intensity LEDs arranged in four distinct bands.

This voltage detector has been designed in such a way as to ensure that the user is able to view the bands at various angles (360° viewing angle) and in bright sunlight. The Martindale MTL15 Drummond Test Lamp allows the user to identify hazardous voltages above 50V quickly and clearly and facilitates his/her ability to distinguish the supply type of the voltage.

Also adding to the clarity and ease of identifying hazardous voltages is the Martindale MTL15 Drummond Test Lamp’s simple operating system. It does not feature switches and is auto-ranging, thereby eliminating human error when selecting the appropriate voltage range.

In addition to this, the Martindale MTL15 Drummond Test Lamp is supplied with a selection of six test probes allowing the user to tailor the voltage detector to suit the application. These probes facilitate the user’s ability to perform measurements in difficult to access places. The Martindale MTL15 Drummond Test Lamp is provided with 62mm straight and right-angled probes, as well as extended 130mm probes. When attaching the right-angled probes to the tester, they can be rotated through 90°, 180° and 270° in order to lock them in place; again, adding to the voltage indicator’s ease-of-use.

The Martindale MTL15 Drummond Test Lamp’s probe and lamp housing both feature a finger shield. The voltage detector’s probe tip is also insulated and has been designed so that only 4mm of metal is exposed. These features, along with the Martindale MTL15 Drummond Test Lamp’s two-layer double insulated cable, with wear indication and a resistance to both heat and oil, add to the safety and resilience of this instrument.

As a result, the Martindale MTL15 Drummond Test Lamp is compliant with the safety standards CAT IV 1000V and BS EN 61010. Its rugged design also ensures that it meets the Health and Safety Executive’s guidance notes regarding electricians’ test lamps (GS38), as well as the most recent updates to the BS EN 61243-3 standard regarding voltage detectors (as of 2018).
