The Martindale EZ165 Advanced Socket & Non-trip Earth Loop Tester is capable of detecting twenty-eight fault conditions in sockets. It can also be used to check mains voltage levels and verify the safety of the socket’s earth wiring by performing a non-trip earth loop test.
The results of the non-trip earth loop test are indicated in six discrete ranges from less than 1.7Ω to 500Ω. Traditional socket testers tend to detect the presence of earth and will indicate an earth connection despite resistance levels as high as 500kΩ. This can prove dangerous as a low earth resistance is required to ensure that safety disconnection devices are operating correctly, thereby preventing electrocution when faults occur.
