This socket tester is incredibly easy to use, and it is capable of detecting the majority of common wiring problems. The tester is designed to be used on 13A UK sockets, and once plugged in, can detect problems including neutral faults, the absence of an earth wire, and mixed up wires.

This Martindale tester indicates a problem with one or more aspects of a socket’s wiring using neon lights. If an aspect of the socket is wired incorrectly, the corresponding neon light will light up. The lights do not turn on if their corresponding aspect of wiring is faulty.
