The Kern OBN 158 Phase Contrast Microscope features a high-quality, wide-ranging phase contrast feature. This, combined with a number of other features including a professional condenser wheel and infinity plan phase contrast objectives, makes it particularly well suited to viewing extremely translucent, thin, low-contrast, challenging samples using a phase contrast method. Therefore, this microscope can be used to analyse living mammal cells and bacterial tissues.

The Kern OBN 158 Phase Contrast Microscope is equipped with a strong and continuously adjustable 20W Philips halogen transmitted illumination unit, allowing the user to adjust the illumination of samples to suit the application. The Kern OBN 158 Phase Contrast Microscope’s Koehler illumination unit also includes a height-adjustable PH universal rotary condenser, an aperture diaphragm and a field diaphragm

This microscope facilitates easy, accurate and fast focal adjustment due to the inclusion of coaxial coarse and fine focusing knobs on both sides of the microscope. The Kern OBN 158 Phase Contrast Microscope’s head is capable of 360° rotation and is equipped with trinocular inspection; this facilitates the user’s ability to view the specimen with both eyes and can accommodate for the attachment of an additional camera (NOT included, see ‘Accessories’). Please note that a C-mount adapter (NOT included) is required to connect the camera to the microscope; see ‘Accessories’ for further details.

The Kern OBN 158 Phase Contrast Microscope is equipped with a centring eyepiece for adjusting the phase contrast, a protective dust cover, eyecups and multilingual user instructions, as well as five infinity plan objectives: 4x, PH10x, PH20x, PH40x and PH100x. However; the Kern OBN 158 Phase Contrast Microscope can be bought with a number of additional accessories including eyepieces, objectives and darkfield condensers (please see ‘Accessories’) allowing the user to adjust the microscope as necessary.
