The Kern CXB-NM Counting Scales are EC-type approved and can be purchased with either a Kern MIII verification or DAkks calibration at the point of sale. To add a calibration or verification to an order, or for further information, please contact our sales team.

A DAkkS calibration ensures compliance with European standards and is internationally recognised. It is the German equivalent of a UKAS calibration.

Alternatively, please add a Kern MIII verification to an order if the scales are intended for commercial applications. This verification ensures that scales are assessed for conformity in accordance with the EU directive 2014/31/EEC. The MIII verification is required if the Kern CXB-NM Counting Scales are to be used within EU member states in any of the following capacities:

• Determining the price of a commodity using weight (as in commercial trading)
• Manufacturing pharmaceuticals in pharmacies
• Analysing pharmaceuticals in pharmaceutical and medical laboratories
• For official purposes
• Producing pre-packaging
• As part of medical applications

Kern’s CXB-NM Counting Scales are available in four models that vary in regards to their weighing ranges; please see the table below for further information.

These scales can be used to count and weigh items; they are ideal for quantifying items accurately using precise counts. The user is able to change between counting and weighing modes as required via the press of a button.

Each of the Kern CXB-NM Counting Scales features three large, backlit, LCD displays with a digit height of 18mm. These displays indicate the weight, reference weight and total pieces. In addition to this, all the scales include a numerical pad that can be used to program the Kern CXB-NM Counting Scales.

Via the numerical pad, the user can enter and adjust the required reference quantity and known reference weight. Furthermore, he/she can enter a target weight; when this weight has been reached the Kern CXB-NM Counting Scales will issue an audible alert.

Other functions available on the Kern CXB-NM Counting Scales include:

• Piece Counting mode
• Totalising mode: determines the sum of similar-weight items
• Counting Results Memory: individual piece counts are added together and the result is displayed as both the total weight and total pieces
• Pre-TARE function: the known weight of a container is subtracted from the total weight; this function is of particular use when checking fill-levels

In addition to their eclectic weighing capabilities, the accuracy of these instruments is improved by their automatic reference weight optimisation which gradually improves the average piece weight value.

Finally, with regards to these instruments' practicality, the Kern CXB-NM Counting Scales are supplied with a protective working cover and an integrated rechargeable battery pack that is able to supply the unit with up to 200 hours of power (provided the backlight is switched off). Also helping to reduce these instruments' downtime is their energy management function. This function switches the backlight off after five seconds of inactivity, helping to preserve battery life.
