Kern ALJ-A Single-Range Analytical Balances (160g - 500g) – Choice of Model

The Kern ALJ-A Single-Range Analytical Balances are available in four models which differ in regards to their measurement ranges; for further information, please see the table below.

The Kern ALJ-A Single-Range Analytical Balances can be used to weigh a variety of items accurately. They include an automatic internal adjustment function which will alter the balance in order to maintain its accuracy. It will activate when a temperature difference of equal to or greater than 1.2°C is detected. Alternatively, it may be programmed to verify and/or adjust the balance’s accuracy every three hours. In addition to this, the Kern ALJ-A Single-Range Analytical Balances include an electromagnetic force compensation function which is also optimised to maintain the instruments’ accuracies.

Measurements are indicated on the Kern ALJ-A Single-Range Analytical Balances’ backlit, LCD displays with a digit height of 17mm. The user is able to switch between measurement units at the touch of a button. He/she can also program the Kern ALJ-A Single-Range Analytical Balances to include upper and lower limits; if either of these limits is breached the balances will alert the user via a visual and audible alarm.

Moreover, the balances include a Hold function which allows them to determine an average weight measurement when weighing conditions are unsteady/ unstable. Other functions present on the Kern ALJ-A Single-Range Analytical Balances include:

• Pieces Counting
• Percentage Determination: ascertains the percentage deviation from the target weight (100%)
• Recipe: the weights of the recipe ingredients are added together in order to determine the total weight of the recipe

When using the recipe function it is possible to send the total weight of the recipe to print (when used with a compatible Kern printer – NOT included). It is also possible to send selected weight measurements to print; these values are printed with the date and time. The Kern ALJ-A Single-Range Analytical Balances include an RS-232 interface in order to facilitate a connection between the balance and the printer.

Accessing the instruments’ functions and changing between measurements and measurement units is made easy as a result of the Kern ALJ-A Single-Range Analytical Balances’ ergonomic keypads which have been optimised for both right- and left-handed users.

Other ergonomic features include the balances’ compact size and large glass draught shields with three sliding doors; the glass shield protects the items-under-investigation from contamination whilst preserving the user’s view and ensuring that he/she has easy access to the enclosed objects. These instruments are also supplied with protective working covers.
