The IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment details advice on how to determine whether electrical equipment is fit for continued use, specifically in regard to conducting in-service inspections and tests.
The fifth edition (published 2020) of the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment differs from previous editions with regards to the following:
- Electrical equipment maintenance requirements
- Acceptable test result limits
- Hierarchy of tests
- Testing frequency and intervals
- The demarcation between equipment connected to a fixed electrical installation and the installation itself
- Guidance and emphasis on user checks
- Advice on the types of checks available to duty-holders
