The HD Electric TILT II Transformer Tester can be used to check de-energised transformers for major defects before energising. Testing transformers with this tool can prevent line workers from installing a fuse on shortened transformers.
There are four versions of the HD Electric TILT II Transformer Tester available: two with a manual self-test and two with an automatic self-test. Manual self-test versions feature tabs on the side of the unit allowing the user to verify the HD Electric TILT II Transformer Tester’s functionality as required; automatic self-test models will check the battery, lights, beeper and electronics each time the TEST button is pressed.
Each of these models is supplied with large copper alligator clips with heavy-duty boots and heavy-duty rubber insulated coiled test leads. Select models are also supplied with a magnet (see the ‘What’s Included?’ section for further details) allowing the user to connect the HD Electric TILT II Transformer Tester to the exterior of units/ machinery thereby facilitating hands-free operation.
The HD Electric TILT II Transformer Tester is equipped with a simple-to-use single-button operating system; it will continually run tests for as long as this button is pressed. The HD Electric TILT II Transformer Tester is suitable for the following applications:
- Quickly and easily checking transformers and their connections
- Testing the primary and secondary sides of new, reworked, single- or three-phase transformer installations for short circuits before energising
- Testing the primary and secondary sides of de-energised transformers without disconnecting these units
- Testing the secondary sides of transformers and all the connections made to this side (up to and including the meter) before energising
- Quickly verifying whether secondary connections are shorted
- Screening incoming and outgoing transformers for primary and secondary shorts or opens (including internal fuses and breakers) before energising
The HD Electric TILT II Transformer Tester is suitable for checking 1Ø and 3Ø overhead, pad-mounted and potential transformers as well as other distribution transformers.
The HD Electric TILT II Transformer Tester will indicate whether a short circuit or open circuit has been detected via super bright LEDs; it will also offer a clear visual and audible indication when test results are OK. The HD Electric TILT II Transformer Tester can differentiate between a true short and a low instance of transformer winding.
The HD Electric TILT II Transformer Tester is a compact, lightweight, easy-to-use high-voltage instrument suitable for quickly and easily testing power distribution systems for shorts and opens.
