HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector – Choice of Kits

The HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector can be used to perform non-contact voltage detection. The HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector features two voltage ranges allowing it to function as a HI/LO voltage indicator suitable for a variety of applications such as storm assessment, meter reading and first response.

The HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector has the following voltage ranges:

• LO range: 50V AC – 4kV AC
• HI range: 4kV AC – 500kV AC

When voltage is detected, the HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector will indicate this via an audible alarm and flashing bright LEDs. A heartbeat signal indicates that the HD Electric PRX-4 Voltage Detector is ready to detect voltages.

When set to the LO range, the HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector is able to detect voltages from a distance of 8cm/ 3”; when set to the HI range, the HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector can detect voltages from a distance of 25cm/ 10”. Please note that the higher the voltage the greater the detection distance.  

A dual voltage range allows the user to adapt the HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector to suit the application or system-under-investigation. This instrument can be used to check both 50Hz and 60Hz systems.

Adding to the adaptability of this instrument is its dual hotstick connection which facilitates the attachment of universal splines and shotgun sticks. Furthermore, the “Sensing Zone” function for directional discrimination allows the HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector to trace voltages on complex overbuilds and underbuilds.

The compact, lightweight design of the HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector, coupled with its electronic touchpad with large buttons ensures that it is easy to hold and operate even in challenging conditions. Additionally, this unit is surrounded by a rugged, waterproof housing making it suitable for tough, outdoor environments.

Adding to this unit’s longevity and practicality is its rechargeable lithium-ion battery. When low, the HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector’s Li-Ion battery can be recharged for fifteen minutes to provide it with enough power for a full day’s work. It takes three hours to reach full charge; at full charge the HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector can be used continuously over the course of a week. It is possible to recharge the HD Electric PRX-4 Proximity Voltage Detector using both AC and DC outlets.
