HD Electric LV-5 Stray Voltage Detector

The HD Electric LV-5 Stray Voltage Detector is capable of identifying stray voltages between 5V AC and 600V AC on any electrically conductive surface. It is available as a standalone instrument or as part of a kit. For further information please see the ‘What’s Included?’ section.

As the HD Electric LV-5 Stray Voltage Detector can be used to detect stray voltages on any electrically conductive surface it is suitable for use on street light poles, guide guy wires, wood transmission poles, meter cans, and manhole covers, as well as many other metallic surfaces in and around electrical utilities. This instrument works by placing the metal tip of the detector to the potentially energised source; if a voltage is detected the ultra-bright, long-lasting, red LED will illuminate. The ultra-bright LED indicator is easily visible in daylight.

The HD Electric LV-5 Stray Voltage Detector can detect voltages between 5V AC and 600V AC when it is placed in direct contact with the surface-under-investigation; it is also able to detect voltages above 600V AC when held at a distance.

It is possible to use the HD Electric LV-5 Stray Voltage Detector when wearing gloves or when barehanded: it has a bigger, more robust grip. Additionally, the HD Electric LV-5 Stray Voltage Detector can be used with an OPTIONAL extension handle to access equipment on the ground or in difficult-to-reach locations. This instrument can also be used with an OPTIONAL ground shield to protect it from interference caused by high voltage lines or other energised conductors, again this expands the HD Electric LV-5 Stray Voltage Detector’s scope-for-use. Also adding to this instrument’s versatility is its rugged, waterproof, utility-grade design.

The HD Electric LV-5 Stray Voltage Detector is always switched on ensuring that it is ready to use. To ensure correct functionality, the HD Electric LV-5-K01 Stray Voltage Detector Kit includes a belt-clip holster featuring an integrated tester; this allows the user to test the functionality, and thereby verify the safety and reliability, of the LV-5 Detector against a known low AC voltage signal both before and after testing. Checking the HD Electric LV-5 Stray Voltage Detector in this way also works to verify its battery life. The HD Electric LV-5 Stray Voltage Detector is powered by two AA lithium/ alkaline batteries.
