HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter

The HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter functions as both a dual-stick voltage tester and a phasing set. It can measure voltages between 5V and 40kV and is suitable for testing both overhead and underground systems; its range can be extended to 80kV via the addition of OPTIONAL add-on resistors. Unlike its sister product, the HD Electric DigiVolt-80 Digital Phasing Voltmeter, this instrument includes both a Capacitive Test Point mode and a Peak Hold mode.

As a result of integrated Phase Accurate Technology, the HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter is able to conduct line-to-line and line-to-ground voltage measurements to an accuracy and repeatability of 1%.

The HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter’s measurement capabilities make it suitable for the following applications:

  • Measuring voltage and phase conductors on both overhead and underground systems
  • Checking if multiple conductors are in-phase or out-of-phase
  • Verifying that conductors are deenergised prior to grounding
  • Conducting measurements and phasing on elbow test points (in Capacitive Test Point mode)
  • Discharging equipment and underground cables that hold capacitive charges

When used with an OPTIONAL HD Electric CFT-35 Cable Fault Tester and busing probes, this instrument can also be used to find cable defects.

The HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter is auto-ranging and is able to measure AC and DC voltages through to 1000Hz RMS. Measurements are indicated in kilovolts on the HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter’s 3.5-digit (with a decimal point), backlit, digital display. The HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter is able to display readings to the following resolutions:

  • 0.005 – 1.999 range with 1V resolution
  • 2.00 – 19.00 range with 10V resolution
  • 19.0 -40.0 range with 100V resolution

When placed in Peak Hold mode, the user is able to view the peak voltage reading via the display. Furthermore, in Capacitive Test Point Mode (for measuring voltages and phasing on elbow test points, as mentioned above) the HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter will display the system voltage.

With regards to its practicality, the HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter is a compact, lightweight instrument with a 3.5’ coiled connecting cord which can be extended up to 12’. The HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter also includes an Auto Shut Off feature designed to preserve the life of its standard 9V lithium/ alkaline battery. This cell is contained within an easy-to-change battery case (tools are not required).

The HD Electric DVM-80UVM Universal Digital Voltmeter is a portable, precise and practical voltage tester and phasing set with a Capacitive Test Point mode and Peak Hold mode. It is ideal for inspecting and verifying the functionality of both overhead and underground systems.
