HD Electric Cap Check II-100 Distribution/ Substation Capacitor Checker with Case

The HD Electric Cap Check II-100 Distribution/ Substation Capacitor Checker is designed to enable the testing of substation capacitor racks. It is housed within an aluminium case and includes an integrated digital voltmeter and milliammeter, variac control, and circuit breakers. It is also supplied with four sets of 15m cords, a current probe and a modified hotstick.

The HD Electric Cap Check II-100 Distribution/ Substation Capacitor Checker is designed to be operated by a two-man crew, it is powered by a 120V external supply, and can be used to check up to five-hundred substation capacitors per day.

When using the HD Electric Cap Check II-100 Distribution/ Substation Capacitor Checker, individual capacitors do not have to be disconnected in order to identify incipient faults, failures and ruptures. The HD Electric Cap Check II-100 Distribution/ Substation Capacitor Checker, like all of HD Electric’s Cap Check Series of Capacitor Checkers, is able to test between 50 and 480V AC, as a minimum of 50V AC must be applied to capacitors in order to identify incipient faults caused by shorting between individual plates. Its ability to apply up to 480V AC also allows the user to determine the ‘true’ internal condition of capacitors.

The HD Electric Cap Check II-100 Distribution/ Substation Capacitor Checker can be used as a preventative maintenance tool suitable for identifying failing or partially failing capacitors. These faulty units can be replaced preventing forced outages and eliminating the unnecessary replacement of functional capacitors. Further to this, the HD Electric Cap Check II-100 Distribution/ Substation Capacitor Checker can be used to accurately and reliably test new capacitors on receipt from the factory, thereby preventing the accidental installation of faulty units. As a result, clean-up costs and downtime are eliminated and/or significantly reduced. Moreover, by finding failing capacitors the operators are able to identify and prevent potentially dangerous situations.
