The GES Gas-Tec MK4 FID Hydrocarbon/Methane Gas Detector is a portable flame ionisation detector (FID), sometimes known as a flame ionisation monitor. It is designed to measure minute concentrations of hydrocarbons, specifically methane, in the atmosphere. As such, it is suitable for detecting gas leaking from underground distribution pipes, landfills, or utility sites.
The GES Gastec MK4 can detect hydrocarbon concentrations between 1 and 10 000ppm in under two seconds. To this end, it features an FID sensor. The MK4 is calibrated to methane making it especially good at detecting CH4 leaks from underground pipes, landfills, and utility sites.
The MK4 supports two ppm ranges:
However, the upper limit may be extended to 100 000ppm with an optional range extender.
Readings can be quickly read off the analogue display. Meanwhile, a Geiger-counter-style click, with an alarm that crescendos as concentrations increase, offers a clear, audible indication of hydrocarbon concentrations. The MK4 is compatible with an optional loudspeaker or headphones for background noise isolation.
To deliver superior accuracy, the MK4 is supplied with a hydrogen cylinder capable of delivering up to 60 hours of operation (model dependent). The GES Gas-Tec MK4 can be purchased with either a 100ml (15 hours) or 400ml (60 hours) refillable hydrogen cylinder.
Designed to be carried on the shoulder, the MK4 is portable with an easily manoeuvrable independent probe for positioning around valves and flanges. It requires minimal training to operate and is powered by rechargeable batteries that deliver a fifteen-hour operating time.
In addition to a rechargeable battery, probe, and hydrogen cylinder of your choice, the Gastec MK4 is supplied with a battery charger, filters, a hard carry case, and a DIN socket for data output to a chart recorder.
The GES Gas-Tec MK4 FID Hydrocarbon/Methane Gas Detector is a small, simple-to-use, swift flame ionisation detector optimised for monitoring methane concentrations.
