Via the creation of hydraulic pressure using mineral oil and a high-quality screw press, the Fluke P3115 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester can be used to calibrate pressure sensing instruments such as transducers, transmitters, gauges and pressure switches. This instrument is available in four models, all optimised for accuracy and ease-of-use, but which vary in regards to their pressure ranges and measurement units. For further information regarding the differences between these models, please see the table below.
Product Code | Product Name | Pressure Range |
P3115-BAR | Fluke P3115-BAR Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester - 1100 bar | 20 to 1100 bar |
P3115-KGCM2 | Fluke P3115-KGCM2 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester - 1100 kgf/cm2 | 20 to 1100 kgf/cm |
P3115-PSI | Fluke P3115-PSI Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester - 16k psi | 200 to 16 000 psi |
P3115-MPA | Fluke P3115-MPA Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester - 110 MPa | 2 to 110 MPa |
For a quick introduction to these instruments, please see the following video.
The integrated hand-pump can be used to prime the Fluke P3115 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester, as well as accommodate large volume requirements, whilst the high-quality screw press, as mentioned above, may be used with the mineral oil to create hydraulic pressure. It may also be used to make fine pressure adjustments.
During the calibration process, the user is able to view the oil level and quality via the clear, acrylic reservoir. Post-calibration the mineral oil can be quickly and easily drained via the built-in drain plug.
When hydraulic pressure is created the piston rises in the cylinder. In order to balance this upward force, accurately calibrated weight masses are added to the piston. Each of the weight masses is constructed from series 3, non-magnetic, austenitic, stainless steel and is marked with both the instrument’s serial number and the nominal pressure values relative to high- and low-pressure pistons. In order to determine the final pressure value, the relevant nominal values, marked on each of the weight masses added to the piston, are combined. For further information regarding this process, please see the video below.
Weight masses may be stored in a robust case with a self-locking mechanism, ensuring that they can be safely and securely transported between worksites. The Fluke P3115 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester is also supplied with a removable lid, again ensuring that it can be easily transported.
Adding to this instrument’s practicality is its test-station design with O-rings and the inclusion of 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch NPT or BSP female adaptors; these features remove the need for PTFE tape and/or wrenches when attaching additional instruments. The Fluke P3115 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester’s adjustable feet and mounted spirit level also add to the ease, as well as the accuracy, with which this instrument can be set up.
Working to ensure this instrument’s precision is its piston and cylinder assembly with a floatation indicator, it has been manufactured in accordance with the highest standards; this means that it has certified accuracies traceable to international standard laboratories, such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The assembly has been designed to preserve the stability and durability of the Fluke P3115 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester, whilst limiting the effects of thermal coefficients and distortion.
In addition to this, the Fluke P3115 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester is supplied with a traceable certificate of accuracy and is calibrated to standard gravity (980.665cm/s²), giving the tester an overall standard accuracy of 0.015%. However, the Fluke P3115 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester can be calibrated to the user’s local gravity, thereby improving the instrument’s accuracy to 0.008% by accounting for the effect of this localised force on the weight masses.
The Fluke P3115 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester is ideal for calibrating pressure sensing instruments accurately and efficiently.
