The Fluke P3114 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester can be used to calibrate pressure sensing instruments such as transducers, transmitters, gauges and pressure switches. For a quick introduction to this product, please view the following video.

Measuring Pressure with a Deadweight Tester

The Fluke P3114 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester has been optimised for accuracy and ease-of-use. It features a test-station design with O-rings and is supplied with 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch NPT or BSP female adaptors, removing the need for PTFE tape and/or wrenches when attaching additional instruments. Furthermore, the inclusion of adjustable feet and a mounted spirit level ensures that the deadweight tester can be set-up accurately even on rough terrain. Moreover, the addition of a removable lid ensures that the Fluke P3114 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester can be transported safely between worksites.

Weight masses used with this tester can be stored in a robust case with secure, self-locking mechanism, again ensuring that these instruments can be safely and securely transported. Weight masses are constructed from series 3, non-magnetic, austenitic, stainless steel and are marked with the instruments serial number. They are also marked with nominal pressure values relative to high- or low-pressure pistons.

When hydraulic pressure is created using mineral oil and the high-quality screw press, which also facilitates fine pressure adjustments, the piston begins to rise in the cylinder. In order to balance this upward force, the accurately calibrated weight masses are added to the piston. The final pressure is then determined by adding together the relevant nominal values marked on each of the weight masses placed on the piston. For further information regarding this process, please see the video below.

The Fluke P3114 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester also includes an integrated hand-pump which can be used to both prime the system and accommodate large volume applications. Additionally, the reservoir is constructed of clear acrylic allowing the user to view the oil level and quality at all times, whilst the integrated drain plug facilitates the quick and easy draining of the oil post-calibration.

The piston and cylinder assembly with floatation indicator is constructed in accordance with the highest standards; as such, it features certified accuracies traceable to international standards laboratories, such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Indeed the Fluke P3114 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester is supplied with a traceable certificate of accuracy. The design of the Fluke P3114 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester works to minimise distortion and thermal coefficients whilst preserving the stability and durability of the tester.

The Fluke P3114 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester has a standard accuracy of 0.015%. This accuracy can be improved to 0.008% via adjusting the set-up of the Fluke P3114 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester. For instance, this instrument is calibrated to standard gravity (980.665cm/s²), however, it may be calibrated to the user’s local gravity, thereby accounting for the effect of this force on the weight masses and subsequently improving the accuracy of the instrument.

The Fluke P3114 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester is an accurate, adaptable, easy-to-use instrument ideal for calibrating pressure sensing instruments via the creation of hydraulic pressure and the addition of accurately calibrated weight masses.
