The Fluke P3112 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester can be used to create hydraulic pressure for the purpose of calibrating pressure sensing instruments such as transducers, transmitters, gauges and pressure switches. It is available in four models which vary with regards to their pressure ranges and measurement units. For further information regarding these models please see the table below, and for a quick introduction to these instruments please view the video beneath the table.
Product Code | Product Name | Pressure Range |
P3112-BAR | Fluke P3112-BAR Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester - 140 bar | 4 to 140 bar |
P3112-KGCM2 | Fluke P3112-KGCM2 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester - 140 kgf/cm2 | 4 to 140 kgf/cm |
P3112-PSI | Fluke P3112-PSI Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester - 2000 psi | 40 to 2000 psi |
P3112-MPA | Fluke P3112-MPA Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester - 14 MPa | 0.4 to 14 MPa |
These models operate using mineral oil, the level and quality of this oil are viewable via the clear, acrylic reservoir. Additionally, oil can be easily drained via the integrated drain plug. The built-in hand pump can be used to prime the Fluke P3112 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester and may be used to accommodate large volume requirements, whilst its high-quality screw press facilitates the creation and fine adjustment of hydraulic pressure.
With the creation of hydraulic pressure, the piston is forced to rise within its cylinder. To counteract this upward force accurately calibrated weight masses are added to the piston. Each weight mass is marked with nominal pressure values, relative to the high- or low-pressure piston, as well as the instrument’s serial number. In order to determine the final pressure, the nominal values marked on the weight masses that have been placed on the piston are added together; please see the video below for further information regarding this process.
Weight masses are constructed from series 3, non-magnetic, austenitic, stainless steel and may be stored in a robust weight box with a self-locking mechanism, keeping them safe and secure during transit.
The detachable lid supplied with the Fluke P3112 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester also works to ensure the safe and secure transportation of the apparatus. Other practical features present on the Fluke P3112 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester are:
- A test station design with O-rings – this design combined with the supplied 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch NPT or BSP female adaptors mean that PTFE tape and/or wrenches are not required when attaching additional instruments.
- Adjustable feet and a mounted spirit level – ensures the instrument can be set-up accurately even on unlevel surfaces.
In addition to practicality, the Fluke P3112 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester has been optimised for accuracy and to this end is supplied with a traceable certificate of accuracy. The piston and cylinder assembly with floatation indicator includes certified accuracies that are traceable to international standards laboratories, such as NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology). The sophisticated construction of the piston and cylinder assembly works to maintain this product’s stability and durability while limiting the effects of thermal coefficients and distortion.
Moreover, the Fluke P3112 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester is calibrated to standard gravity (980.665cm/s²) and has a standard accuracy of 0.015%. However, it is possible to improve the accuracy of this instrument to 0.008% by, for instance, calibrating it to the user’s local gravity.
The Fluke P3112 Oil Hydraulic Deadweight Tester is optimised for accuracy, repeatability and efficiency, it is ideal for calibrating multiple pressure sensing instruments.
