The Fluke P3032 Gas Deadweight Tester can be used to create pneumatic pressure in order to calibrate pressure sensing instruments such as transmitters, transducers, gauges and pressure switches. To this end, it includes a /NPT female port to which an external gas supply may be attached, as well as a test-station design with O-rings and 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 NPT and BSP, and M20 and M14 metric adapters, allowing users to attach instruments-under-investigation without PTFE tape or wrenches.
The high-quality needle on this tester may be used to make minor adjustments to the pneumatic pressure created. Once pressure is created the upward force causes the piston to rise in the cylinder, to counterbalance this force, accurately calibrated weight masses are added to the piston. Each weight mass is marked with a nominal pressure value relative to the high- or low-pressure piston; to determine the final pressure these values are added together. For further information regarding this process, please see the video below.
In addition to the nominal pressure values, weight masses are marked with the instrument’s serial number. The weight masses are constructed from series 3, non-magnetic, austenitic, stainless steel and are stored in a rugged weight case with a secure locking mechanism. This ensures that they may be easily transported between worksites.
The Fluke P3032 Gas Deadweight Tester’s removable lid also facilitates the easy transportation of this calibrator between worksites. Once the user has arrived at each worksite, the Fluke P3032 Gas Deadweight Tester can be easily and precisely set up due to the inclusion of adjustable feet and a mounted spirit level.
Accuracy is at the forefront of this product’s design, it is supplied with an ISO 17025 accredited calibration certificate and is calibrated to standard gravity (980.665 cm/s²). This provides the unit with a standard accuracy of 0.015% which may be improved to 0.008% via adjusting the set-up of the instrument, for instance by calibrating the instrument to the user’s local gravity. By calibrating the Fluke P3032 Gas Deadweight Tester to the user’s local gravity, the effect of this localised gravitational pull is accounted for, thereby improving the accuracy of the tester.
Also adding to the precision of the Fluke P3032 Gas Deadweight Tester, is its piston and cylinder assembly with floatation indicator which has been constructed to the highest standards and as such has certified accuracies traceable to international standards laboratories, such as NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology). Its design ensures that the effects of distortion and thermal coefficients are lowered, whilst the instrument’s stability and durability are maintained.
Finally, the piston and cylinder assembly is oil lubricated. This ensures that when gas is introduced to the system it acts directly on the surface of the oil, providing a rate-less transfer of pressure. This design reduces the possibility of over-filling the chamber and contaminating the gas system.
PLEASE NOTE this system does not include a barrier between the oil and gas, which increases the likely hood of ‘oil-mist’ transfer. Therefore the Fluke P3032 Gas Deadweight Tester is unsuitable for oxygen service; however a version of this tester with an oxygen compatible fluid is available, please call for details.
The Fluke P3032 Gas Deadweight Tester – Liquid Lubricated is ideal for conducting accurate calibrations of pressure sensing equipment.
