The Fluke P3015 Gas Deadweight Tester is optimised for calibrating pressure sensing instruments such as transducers, transmitters, gauges and pressure switches.

This version of the Fluke P3015 Gas Deadweight Tester does not include a built-in handpump, unlike its sister product the Fluke P3015-P Gas Deadweight Tester. However, an external gas source may be connected to its /NPT female external supply in order to create the necessary pressure. The addition of a high-quality needle allows the user to make fine adjustments to the pressure generated.

With the creation of pneumatic pressure, the piston and cylinder assembly will rise; in order to counteract this upward force, accurately calibrated weight masses are added to the piston. To determine the final pressure value, the nominal pressure values inscribed on each of the weights are added together. For further information regarding this method, please see the video below.

Measuring Pressure with a Deadweight Tester

Weight masses are constructed from series 3 non-magnetic, austenitic, stainless steel and are inscribed with both their nominal pressure value relative to the high- or low-pressure piston and the instrument’s serial number. These masses are stored in a weight box with a secure locking mechanism, ensuring that they can be easily transported between worksites.

The Fluke P3015 Gas Deadweight Tester has been optimised for accuracy. To this end, it is supplied with an ISO 17025 accredited calibration certificate. Its piston and cylinder assembly with floatation indicator has also been manufactured to the highest standards and as such has certified accuracies traceable to international standard laboratories, such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).  Indeed this piston/cylinder assembly has been designed to maintain the Fluke P3015 Gas Deadweight Tester’s accuracy by reducing the effects of distortion and thermal coefficients, whilst ensuring stability and durability.

The Fluke P3015 Gas Deadweight Tester has a standard accuracy of 0.015%. This may be improved to 0.008%. It is calibrated to standard gravity (980.665 cm/s²); however, the user may specify that the instrument is calibrated to his/her local gravity thereby ensuring that the effect of this force on the weight masses is accounted for therefore improving the accuracy of this instrument.

Finally, the Fluke P3015 Gas Deadweight Tester is supplied with a number of accessories optimised to improve its practicality and ease-of-use.  In addition to its test station design with O-rings, the Fluke P3015 Gas Deadweight Tester is supplied with 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 NPT and BSP adapters and M20 and M14 metric adapters, ensuring that the user does not require PTFE tape or wrenches in order to attach additional instruments. Spare seals are also provided as well as a removable lid.

The Fluke P3015 Gas Deadweight Tester – Without Pump is a practical, precise instrument ideal for calibrating a variety of pressure detection tools.
