Like the previous model, this model is also durable, lightweight and portable: ideal for use in industrial environments. Despite its compact size, this product does not compromise on the required EA criteria:
- Accuracy
- Stability
- Axial (vertical) uniformity
- Well-to-well uniformity
- Loading
- Hysteresis
This means that the Fluke 9143-X-P-256 is a viable, more practical alternative to dry well temperature calibrators; to this end the Fluke’s 914X-X-P-256 Series are calibrated with high-quality, traceable and accredited PRTs and are supplied with an IEC-17025 NVLAP accredited calibration certificate, which is informed by a comprehensive analysis taking into consideration temperature gradients, loading effects and hysteresis. This extensive calibration ensures that the Fluke 9143-X-P-256 has a full range display accuracy of ±0.2°C. Further to this, the Fluke 9143-X-P-256 will remain stable from ±0.02°C at 33°C to ±0.03°C at 350°C and features an indicator to alert the user to its stability.
In addition to this product’s accuracy and practicality, it is also efficient and easy-to-use. This instrument has a range of 33°C to 350°C and takes only five minutes to reach its highest temperature (350°C) when heating from its lowest temperature (33°C). Moreover, the Fluke 9143-X-P-256, like the Fluke 9143-X-256, includes an array of time-saving features, such as menu navigation buttons and function buttons facilitating quick and easy access to the pre-programmed calibration procedures stored in the Fluke 9143-X-P-256’s memory and quick and easy access to all the instrument’s inputs. Its ‘SET PT’ button ensures that inputting block temperature values is also fast and simple; whilst its large LCD display means that values can be easily read, thereby improving the user’s efficiency.
The Fluke 9143-X-P-256 Field Metrology Well, like other of Fluke’s Field Metrology Wells, can be adjusted to facilitate the user’s needs, it features both manual and auto setup of automated thermostatic switch test procedures. The auto setup saves the user time through automatically running (after the user has entered the nominal switch temperature) a three-cycle calibration procedure and subsequently indicating the final dead band temperature result, whilst the manual setup allows the user to customise the calibration procedure, for example by adding more cycles or changing the ramp rate.
However, where this model differs from Fluke’s more simple 9143-X-256, is in the inclusion of process electronics which facilitates a multitude of additional functions, such as:
Two-Channel Thermometer Readout
This feature enables comparison calibration and has an accuracy of ±0.01°C to ±0.07°C (depending on the measured temperature). This model will accept ITS-90 reference PRT, and its reference PRTs each have a memory chip (which resides within the sensor’s housing) which contain individual calibration constants thereby allowing sensors to be used interchangeably. The second of the thermometer readout’s two channels can be customised to accept either 2-,3-,4-wire RTDs, thermocouples, or 4-20mA transmitters. This ensures that this model can be used to measure the previously listed elements, as well as an array of other sensor types and 4-20mA transmitters which include a 24V loop supply to the power transmitter.
Transmitter Loop Calibrations
The Fluke 9143-X-P-256’s versatility ensures that both the electronics and sensors within 4-20mA transmitters are calibrated, thereby helping to reduce the 75% of errors in transmitting systems caused by uncalibrated sensing elements. The Fluke 9143-X-P-256 measures as-found and as-left data through powering and measuring transmitter current whilst sourcing and measuring temperature in the field metrology well. This is achieved by placing the transmitter sensor with a reference PRT in the well and connecting the transmitter electronics to the front panel.
On-Board Non-Volatile Memory
Allows the user to store up to 20 tests along with each test’s alphanumeric name, block temperature, reference temperature, UUT values, error, date and time. This information can be viewed via the large LCD display, or the raw data can be exported, via the included Model 9930 Interface-It Software, into a calibration report or ASCII file. In this way, the Fluke 9143-X-P-256 also functions as a turnkey solution.
These additional functions, as well as the Fluke 914X-X-256 Field Metrology Well’s standard features, mean that the Fluke 9143-X-P-256 Field Metrology Well with Process Electronics is a viable, more efficient, accurate, versatile and practical alternative to traditional dry well temperature calibrators.
