Each disc insert features a selection of variously sized wells optimised for holding probes of differing diameters. These inserts are interchangeable allowing the user to tailor the instrument to the application.

The Fluke 9140-X-256 Field Dry Well Temperature Calibrator has been designed so that when it is used with discs featuring larger diameter wells it has a uniformity of 0.4°C, and a uniformity of 0.1°C when used with discs featuring smaller diameter wells. Further to this, the Fluke 9140-X-256 has a minimum stability of ±0.05°C and is extremely efficient at reaching desired temperatures. For example, the Fluke 9140-X-256 Field Dry Well Temperature Calibrator can reach the following temperatures in the following times:

  • From ambient temperature (23°C) to 350°C takes twelve minutes
  • From 350°C to 100°C takes fifteen minutes

The heating and cooling rates can be adjusted via the front panel, adding to this product’s adaptability and ease-of-use. This unit is also supplied with an RS-232 interface which can be used with the provided Fluke Interface-It software to operate the Fluke calibrator from a PC. Together these accessories can be used to adjust set points and ramp rates, as well as conduct thermal switch tests whilst recording data, log dry-well readings and create electronic strip charts. Again these accessories and capabilities add to the versatility, adaptability and efficiency of the Fluke 9140-X-256.

Moreover, the Fluke 9140-X-256 Field Dry Well Temperature Calibrator is supplied with a NIST-traceable calibration. In addition to this, it is also easy to re-calibrate this tester in order to maintain its accuracy. The case need not be removed, making this process both more efficient and cost-effective.

The instrument is calibrated to an accuracy of ±0.5°C, allowing the operator to use the Fluke 9140-X-256 Field Dry Well Temperature Calibrator’s display as a reference. Alternatively, he/she can connect an external thermometer for use as a reference during calibration.

Finally, in terms of its physical design, this instrument has been optimised to be compact, lightweight and portable. Its ergonomic size and weight of only six-pounds make it easy to carry in one hand. The Fluke 9140-X-256 Field Dry Well Temperature Calibrator is therefore suitable for applications both within calibration laboratories and in the field.

The Fluke 9140-X-256 Field Dry Well Temperature Calibrator – Choice of Disc is a practical, easy-to-use, adaptable temperature calibrator optimised for speed and versatility.
