The Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester with HART can be used to test complex smart valves in order to verify correct functionality or identify and locate faults. The Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester features a number of integrated and easy-to-run test procedures; this instrument will also quick-check the results of each test, providing the user with an indication as to whether the valve is in good, marginal or bad health. The quick-check feature allows the user to determine, in the field, whether further maintenance is required thereby increasing repair efficiency, reducing downtime and increasing productivity. For a quick introduction to the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester with HART, please see the following video.
The Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester verifies the functionality of valves by sourcing a current between 4 and 20mA to the smart valve in order to move the apparatus; it simultaneously interprets the valve’s HART feedback signal, using the HART communication function, allowing it to ascertain whether the valve is moving to the expected position.
Additionally, the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester’s HART communication protocol enables it to measure the pressure delivered from the valves internal I/P (the component that moves the valve).
The Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester includes a number of integrated test procedures allowing the user to tailor the instrument to the application. These test procedures automatically increase and change the mA signal whilst monitoring the HART position and pressure feedback; the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester includes the following test procedures.
Step Test
Alters the mA signal in steps whilst monitoring and evaluating the valve’s response to the changes in the mA signal.
Speed Test
This test can be used to check the length of time it takes for the valve to open and close.
Bump Test
Optimised for testing valves whilst they are in use; this procedure checks the valves over a portion of their range.
Signature Test
The Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester ramps the mA signal from 4 to 20 mA and then back down to 4mA; it simultaneously records the position of the valve and/or the pressure that moves the valve.
Manual Testing
This function allows the user to alter the mA signal as required and view the HART position and/or pressure information.
Due to the inclusion of an integrated HART modem, the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester can also communicate a range of HART commands improving the ease, efficiency and effectiveness of testing. The Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester with HART is able to issue the following commands:
The Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester is also able to issue an ‘autotrim of valve controller’ command, which is unique to control valves.
The Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester is accurate to 0.01% of the measurement or source value and has a resolution of 1µA on mA ranges and 1mV on voltage ranges.
Furthermore, in addition to the aforementioned test procedures, the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester includes the following measurement features:
HART data and mA loop measurements are logged to the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester’s integrated memory. It has the capacity to store up to 4910 records or 99 logging sessions. It can be set to log measurements at intervals ranging from once every second to once every sixty seconds.
When saving data, the Flike 710 Tester includes the mA measurement and all four process variables in each record. The data logging feature can be used to record HART and mA data from a particular transmitter, making this function especially useful for troubleshooting and loop tuning applications.
Results recorded to the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester may be uploaded to the included ValveTrack™ Analysis Software.
The included ValveTrack™ Analysis Software allows the operator to upload data recorded to the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester to a PC. Once uploaded, he/she is able to conduct further analysis as well as export and compare data. The user is able to perform the following tasks:
It is simple and quick to configure the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester to perform the correct tests. All measurements are conducted via a two-wire connection to the equipment-under-investigation and relevant procedures and/or measurement functions are accessible using the quick-set knob and intuitive user interface. Please see the video below for further information regarding how to program this tester.
More practically, the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester features a compact design ensuring that it is easy to hold and carry, whilst its rugged casing protects it from harsh environments.
To preserve battery life and thereby reduce downtime, the Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester includes an Auto Shutdown function.
The Fluke 710 mA Loop Valve Tester with HART is a comprehensive, easy-to-use, and durable diagnostic and calibration tool suitable for checking complicated smart control valves.
