The Fluke 709 is a handheld, portable testing unit that can be used either as a loop calibration tool or as an effective HART communication device.
As a loop calibrator, the 709 is a high accuracy device (around 0.01% of reading) and it can carry out mA sourcing, mA simulation, mA reading, mA reading/loop power and volt reading functions. The device itself is simple to use, with large LCD screen, rotary knob and clearly labelled menu system. It's also made of rugged materials, making it suitable for use in industrial environments.
The HART functionality enabled the 709 to be used as an effective communication tool and carries out fast transfer of calibration data which can be portable into a software package. This functionality also enables data logging or recording of data on a particular transmitter, and is great for troubleshooting purposes. Capturing intervals can be set from every second to every 60 seconds and it has the ability to store up to 9800 records.
