The Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter features an integrated thermal imaging camera and can be used to locate and identify issues within electrical systems and equipment.
Using a combination of the Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter’s fifteen measurement functions and the integrated thermal imager, the operator can investigate hot spots on high-voltage equipment and transformers allowing him/her to detect and pinpoint failing and over-heating fuses, wires, insulators, connectors, splices and switches. For a quick introduction to this instrument, please see the following video.
The Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter is capable of measuring the following electrical parameters:
When testing for AC current, the operator may use the supplied Fluke i2500-10 iFlex Flexible Current Probe to measure currents up to 2500 A AC. Additionally, it allows the user to access systems and equipment in awkward-to-reach spaces, expanding the Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter’s scope-for-use.
Also expanding this the Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter’s scope-for-use is its 1000V CAT III, 600V CAT IV safety rating.
Furthermore, the Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter is equipped with Hold and Min/Max/Avg functions allowing the user to ascertain the measurements most relevant to the application.
The Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter’s IR imager has a resolution of 102x77-pixels and can be used to detect and measure temperatures between -10°C and 200°C (14°F and 392°F). The temperature measurement is indicated at the centre-point of the image.
The Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter’s thermal camera has a frame rate of 8Hz, a field-of-view of 36° (w) x 27° (h) and a fixed focus. It is particularly useful when locating faulty components as it increases the speed of troubleshooting by eliminating the need for extensive and varied testing and validation.
Images, as well as measurements, are viewable via the Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter’s 3.5-inch (8.89cm) colour LCD screen. Additionally, like electrical measurements, images can be saved, recalled and reviewed on the Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter.
In addition to saving and viewing images and measurements on the Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter, they can be sent to the user’s smartphone or tablet via the Fluke Connect app and a Wi-Fi connection.
Images and measurements can be transferred from the Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter to a compatible smartphone or tablet up to twenty feel (6.1m) away (provided there are no obstructions), allowing the user to share information with team members and make collaborative decisions.
Moreover, information sent to the Fluke Connect App can be used to create reports which may be exported via email. The Fluke Connect App also allows the user to send data to the Cloud. Saved data may serve as a point of comparison and also allows the user to spot trends indicating small problems before they become big issues.
The Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter is equipped with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that is able to provide over ten hours of power, ensuring that the instrument can be used throughout the day.
Furthermore, the Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter is equipped with an Auto Power Off function that will switch-off the instrument after a period of idleness, thereby preserving its battery life.
In addition to this, the Fluke 279FC is supplied with an extra battery, which can be used to eradicate downtime as a second battery may be charged whilst the first is in use.
The Fluke 279FC Wireless TRMS Thermal Multimeter’s extensive measurement capabilities, integrated IR imager and compatibility with the Fluke Connect App improve the ease, efficiency and effectiveness with which electrical issues can be located and diagnosed.
