Fluke 1746/EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger - Choice of Kit
The Fluke 1746/ EUS Power Quality Logger is optimised for basic power quality logging and will record all the necessary parameters for this purpose. It can be used to help engineers and technicians make critical power quality and energy decisions pertaining to electrical network planning. This power quality analyser and logger can also be used to conduct energy saving studies.
This model is suitable for use in Europe, the UK and US; it is available in three kits that vary in regards to the included iFlex current probes:
- FLUKE 1746/B/EUS - Fluke 1746/EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger WITHOUT Probes
- FLUKE 1746/15/EUS - Fluke 1746/EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger with 1500A iFlex Probes
- FLUKE 1746/30/EUS - Fluke 1746/EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger with 3000A iFlex Probes
Measurement Functions
As mentioned above, the Fluke 1746/ EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger can be used to capture all the relevant parameters for conducting energy saving studies and planning electrical networks. This inspection, diagnostic and maintenance tool’s eclectic measurement capabilities also make it suitable for carrying out quality-of-service surveys, quantifying energy usage and troubleshooting power distribution systems. This instrument is able to capture and save the following parameters:
- Voltage
- Current
- Power
- Power factor
- Frequency
- Energy forward/ reverse
- Peak demand
- THD
- Flicker
- Voltage and current harmonics (up to the 50th)
- Unbalance
- Rapid voltage change events
- Interharmonics (up to the 50th)
- Inrush current
It is able to record voltage events such as dips, swells, interruptions, current and inrush current. It can also measure all three voltage and current phases as well as neutral current when used with three-phase and neutral voltage test leads and four flexible current probes (NOT included with the Fluke 1746/B model).
The extensive measurement and logging capabilities of the Fluke 1746/ EUS make it suitable for assessing power quality in accordance with EN 50160 and IEEE 519 standards; additionally, this instrument is compliant with IEC 61000-4-30 Class A Edition 3. It can be used to perform measurements at various positions along the power installation, from the service entrance to the substation to the load.
Memory and Data Download
Logged parameters are saved to the logger’s internal memory; this instrument has the capacity to save in excess of twenty logging sessions. Moreover, to ensure that measurement trends are complete, it will automatically log a number of power parameters.
Recorded data can be downloaded to a PC using a USB interface, an Ethernet connection or via Wi-Fi. Transferring data to a PC via Wi-Fi allows the user to view measurement trends remotely and in real-time, thereby facilitating quick decision-making whilst reducing the need for PPE as the engineer/ technician is able to remain outside of dangerous environments.
Further to this, as the Fluke 1746/ EUS includes two USB ports, data can be saved directly to a USB memory stick whilst the instrument transfers information to a connected PC or laptop via a USB interface. As a result, data can be saved and viewed without removing the Power Quality Logger from the field.
Analysis and Reporting
It is supplied with Fluke's Energy Analyse Plus Software. This program allows the user to view data that has been transferred from the Fluke 1746/ EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger to a PC either by a wired or wireless connection.
Additionally, the Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software can be used to analyse transferred data; it is capable of investigating every detail of the energy consumption and power quality state-of-health. The user can select a particular parameter to create a customised view thereby facilitating advanced data correlation. Additionally, it is possible to perform day/day, week/week and hour/hour comparisons. Data can be exported in PQDIF and NeQual formats, allowing for further analysis using third-party software.
Moreover, downloaded data can be used to create EN 50160, IEEE 519, GOST 33073 reports. These reports can be generated at the touch of a button and their templates may be altered in order to keep up with evolving standards.
Ergonomic, Rugged Design
As mentioned above it is possible to transfer data using a variety of methods and it is also possible to connect multiple current probes to the Fluke 1746. As a result, it is equipped with a number of ports (including AUX, I/O, USB and Ethernet ports) all of which have an IP65 rating ensuring that they are protected from dust and moisture ingress when not in use.
It has the highest safety rating in the industry (600V CAT IV / 1000V CAT III), making it suitable for applications at service entrances and downstream.
Also adding to the practicality is its ability to be powered by the circuit-under-investigation and, to this end, includes a wide power range: it will go from 100V to 500V automatically. Alternatively, it can be powered via a wall line cord or by its lithium-ion battery. The lithium-ion battery is able to provide up to four hours of power per charge, ensuring that it is able to withstand temporary power disruptions.
The small dimensions (23cm x 18cm x 5.4cm) makes it suitable for use in tight spaces whilst its ability to be secured using a standard chain or other security instrument means that it is protected from theft and can be left in the field.
Accessories
The Power Quality Logger’s supplied accessories also make it suitable for use in small, rugged places. The 2m test lead allows the user to access difficult-to-reach conductors as do the flexible, IP65, thin current probes (NOT included with the Fluke 1746/B).
Furthermore, these flexible current probes feature a wide range (probe dependent) ensuring a high accuracy despite the application. They can be connected to the logger separately thereby ensuring maximum flexibility.
System Interface
The Fluke 1746/ EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger’s verification feature will ensure that accessories such as flexible current probes, clamps and test leads are connected correctly. The power button will shine an amber light when connections are faulty, changing to green when they have been corrected. This feature is able to digitally correct unsatisfactory connections without the user having to disconnect any of the components.
In addition to this, it isis able to recognise, scale and power connected clamps and/or probes and will do this automatically upon connection. This ensures that the 1746 and the connected probes and/or clamps are configured correctly enabling accurate and reliable measurements.
Configuring the Fluke 1746/ EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger for each application is made easy due to the inclusion of a quick, guided, graphical PC-application setup interface.
Overall it is an accurate and adaptable three-phase power quality analyser with an array of measurement capabilities for basic power quality logging.
