The Fluke 1742/ EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is suitable for engineers and technicians requiring a tool to conduct simple load and energy studies. This instrument is designed for use in Europe, the UK and the US. It is available in a choice of three kits that vary in regards to their iFlex current probes:
SKU | Accessories |
FLUKE 1742/B/EUS | WITHOUT Probes |

FLUKE 1742/30/EUS | with 3000A iFlex Probes |
Measurement Functions
The Fluke 1742/ EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is capable of measuring and logging the following power parameters:
- Voltage
- Current
- Power
- Power Factor
- Frequency
- Energy forward/ reverse
- Peak demand
- THD
- Flicker
This diagnostic, inspection and maintenance tool will measure all three voltage and current phases as well as neutral current when used with three-phase and neutral voltage test leads and four flexible current probes (NOT included with the Fluke 1742/B model).
The Fluke Power Quality Logger can be placed anywhere on the power installation in order to gather the relevant data for troubleshooting and analysing power distribution systems, and quantifying energy usage. It can perform measurements at the service entrance, the substation and the load; it is fully compliant with IEC 61000-4-30 Class A Edition 3 standards and can be used to assess power quality in accordance with EN 50160 and IEEE 519.
Memory and Data Download
The recorded parameters are saved to the Logger’s internal memory; it is possible to save in excess of twenty logging sessions to the instrument’s memory and will automatically log a number of parameters in order to ensure that measurement trends are complete.
Saved data can be downloaded to a PC and/or directly to a USB memory stick; it is possible to transfer data to a computer and memory stick simultaneously as the Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is equipped with two USB ports. This allows the user to leave the unit in the field recording measurements directly to a USB drive whilst he/she views the readings remotely from a safer distance via a PC and USB interface.
Alternatively, measurements can be transferred to a PC via an Ethernet connection or Wi-Fi interface. Transferring data via Wi-Fi allows the user to view results remotely, outside of the dangerous area, and in real-time; thereby enabling quick decision-making and reducing the need for PPE.
Analysis and Reporting
The supplied Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software allows the user to view data that has been transferred to a PC. It also facilitates his/her ability to analyse and create reports from the downloaded data.
At the touch of a button, this software program can be used to create EN 50160, IEEE 519 and GOST 33073 reports. The Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software’s report templates can be altered in order to accommodate evolving standards.
Alternatively, data can be exported in NeQual and PQDIF formats for use with third-party software. However, the Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software is equipped with a number of analysis features allowing the user to inspect and evaluate every detail of energy consumption and power quality states-of-health. By selecting a particular parameter, the user can create a customised view thereby facilitating advanced data correlation; additionally, the engineer/ technician can opt to view week/week, day/day or hour/ hour data comparisons.
Ergonomic, Rugged Design
To facilitate multiple methods of data transfer, the Fluke 1742/ EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is equipped with an array of ports, including USB, Ethernet, AUX and I/O. These ports, as well as the instrument’s accessory-connection ports, are all IP65-certified ensuring that they are protected from dust and water ingress when not in use.
In addition to IP65-certification, it also has the highest safety rating in the industry (600V CAT IV/ 1000V CAT III), making it suitable for use at service entrances and downstream. It also has a wide power range and will go from 100V to 500V automatically. This allows it to be powered by the circuit-under-investigation. The unit is also supplied with a lithium-ion battery that can provide up to four hours of power per charge ensuring that it will remain operational in spite of temporary power disruptions to the circuit. Alternatively, the Three-Phase Power Quality Logger can be powered using a wall line cord.
The small dimensions (23cm x 18cm x 5.4cm) of the Three-Phase Power Quality Logger also improve its practicality: it can be used in tight spaces. The unit may be secured using a standard chain or another security instrument, protecting it from theft and allowing the user to leave it safely in the field.
Accessories
The accessories supplied with the Power Quality Logger match the unit’s resilience and practicality. For instance, the 2m test lead facilitates access to remote conductors. Similarly, the supplied iFlex current probes (NOT included with the Fluke 1742/B model) also enable access to difficult-to-reach conductors. These IP65-rated probes are thin in design and their wide ranges (probe dependent) ensure a high level of accuracy regardless of the application. These probes are connected separately to the Fluke 1742/ EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger ensuring maximum flexibility.
System Interface
As each probe, clamp or test lead is connected to the Three-Phase Power Quality Logger, the instrument’s intelligent verification feature will check that the accessory has been connected correctly. Incorrect connections are indicated by an amber light that is visible through the power button, this light turns to green when the connections are correct. The intelligent verification feature will automatically correct faulty connections digitally: the user does not need to disconnect or reconnect probes, clamps or test leads.
In addition to this, it will automatically recognise, scale and power the connected probes and/or clamps, adding to the reliability, accuracy and ease-of-use of this instrument.
Also adding to the reliability and ease-of-use of this instrument is its graphical, guided, quick PC-application setup interface which ensures that the user is able to configure the Power Quality Logger correctly for each application.
The Fluke 1742/ EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is the entry model in Fluke’s Series of 1740 Power Quality Analysers; nevertheless, this instrument features an eclectic array of measurement features and is optimised for accuracy and ease-of-operation. It is ideal for engineers and technicians performing simple load and energy studies.
