Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger – Choice of Kit
The Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger can be used to reduce costs by optimising energy usage. This instrument is able to profile energy usage across a facility and, by performing measurements at multiple points on the power installation, is able to determine sources of energy consumption and/or energy waste, thereby providing the operator with the data required to make informed decisions.
It is available in four versions; three of these models support Fluke Connect (NOT available on the Fluke 1734/INTL) allowing the user to view data remotely and/or share information with team members thereby enabling real-time, collaborative decisions. Moreover, as the individual and his/her colleagues can view data remotely they are able to remain outside of dangerous areas reducing the need for PPE. Additionally, viewing data remotely reduces the need for frequent site visits and check-ins. In addition to this, all of the Energy Loggers are supplied with Fluke’s Energy Analyse Plus Software for comprehensive data analysis and comparison, providing a complete picture of the facility’s energy usage.
Energy Measurement
As mentioned above the Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger has been designed to provide the user with a detailed picture of a facility’s energy consumption. As such, it is able to measure and log a variety of power parameters including:
- RMS voltage
- RMS current
- Voltage
- Voltage and current THD
- Active power
- Reactive power
- Power factor
- Active energy
- Reactive energy
The above parameters are measured and logged simultaneously. It can also be used with three flexible current probes (NOT included with the 1734/B model) to measure all three phases. Additionally, Fluke Connect compatibility (NOT available on the Fluke 1734/INTL) allows the user to connect other Fluke Connect-enabled testers, such as Fluke’s multimeters, to the Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger allowing it to record an additional two analogue parameters.
Memory and Data Download
Fluke Connect compatibility allows the user to view data remotely and in real-time. It will automatically record a number of measurement parameters to ensure that measurement trends are complete and has the capacity to save up to twenty separate logging sessions and is capable of recording more than a year’s worth of measurements. Recorded data can be reviewed during the logging sessions prior to download to a PC or USB memory stick. Via the Energy Logger’s bright, colour, touchscreen, graphical display the user can perform in-the-field analysis and data checks Additionally, the inclusion of a USB port enables data to be downloaded directly to a USB memory stick or to a PC via a USB interface. It is also possible to send data to a PC via Wi-Fi transfer (EXCEPT the Fluke 1734/INTL).
Analysis and Reporting
Once downloaded to a PC, the included Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software may be used to perform extensive data analysis and comparison, as well as create customised reports. Reports can be sent to customers and colleagues allowing any necessary decisions to be made quickly, thereby optimising energy savings.
Easy-to-use, Practical Design
Fluke Connect compatibility (NOT available on the Fluke 1734/INTL) also allows the user to configure the Energy Logger remotely, improving user safety. Alternatively, it can be configured via the front panel. Both of these methods of configuration mean that the Fluke 1734 can be left in the field as it does not need to be transported to a workshop for application setup or data download.
Setting up the Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger is made easy as a result of its quick, guided, graphical user interface, ensuring that the relevant data is gathered correctly and reliably.
Also improving measurement reliability and accuracy is the intelligent verification feature which checks that test leads and probes are connected correctly. This feature will digitally correct faulty connections without the user having to disconnect or reconnect additional components. The Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger will also recognise and scale probes automatically. Probes can be connected separately ensuring maximum flexibility. Moreover, the Fluke i173X-flex 1500 Current Probes (NOT included with the Fluke 1734/B model) can be set to 150 A or 1500 A for high accuracy in almost any application. Furthermore, their thin, flexible designs allow the user to access conductors in tight spaces.
This instrument is also supplied with a flat, tangle-free voltage lead for simple and reliable connections to the Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger and the circuit-under-investigation. Further to this, it features a detachable power supply that is able to derive a power source from the circuit-under-investigation, thereby improving its practicality as the user does not need to rely on battery operation or mains supplies.
Applications
As a result of the Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger’s practical design, eclectic measurement features and logging capabilities, it can be used for a variety of applications.
Load Studies
The Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger can be used to ascertain how much energy individual pieces of equipment are consuming at both minimum and maximum capacity.
Energy Assessments
Energy consumption can be quantified both before and after improvements in order to justify energy saving devices.
Energy Survey
Take measurements at multiple points within the facility, from the service entrance to individual circuits in order to conduct a complete energy survey.
Logging Related Analogue Measurements
As mentioned above the Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger can be connected to two other Fluke Connect-enabled instruments in order to log up to two additional analogue parameters such as temperature, voltage, current or pressure. Recording these variables provides an overview of the operating conditions, allowing the user to correlate asset performance data with energy consumption in order to make informed cost-saving decisions.
Power and Energy Logging
The Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger is able to measure and characterise the effects of inductive and capacitive loads which may affect peak demand and power factor. Monitoring and analysing these effects enables the user to optimise the peak demand and power factor thereby reducing his/her energy costs.
Simplified Load Studies
In addition to conducting load studies, which involves monitoring voltage and current, the Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger can be used to conduct simplified load studies which only measures the current. This feature is particularly useful when a voltage connection cannot be made. To create a simulated power study, the user is able to enter the nominal expected voltage.
The Fluke 1734 Three-Phase Electrical Energy Logger is an eclectic, efficient and easy-to-use instrument designed to reduce energy costs by identifying ways to optimise energy usage and reduce waste.
