Fluke 1586-2586 High-Capacity Module

The Fluke 1586A/1HC Super DAQ with 1 High-Capacity Module consists of two products:

  • 1x Fluke 1586A Super DAQ
  • 1x Fluke 1586-2586 High-Capacity Module

For a quick introduction to these products, please watch the following video.

1586A Super-DAQ Introduction Video

The Fluke 1586A/1HC Super DAQ with 1 High-Capacity Module is available in two versions which vary in regards to their mains voltage settings. See the table below for further information.

Product Code Product Name  Mains Voltage Settings
1586A/1HC 220 Fluke 1586A/1HC 220 Super-DAQ with 1 High-Capacity Module  220V: 198V to 242V
1586A/1HC 240 Fluke 1586A/1HC 240 Super-DAQ with 1 High-Capacity Module 240V: 216V to 264V

This combination of products is particularly well suited to factory applications. The Fluke 1586-2586 High-Capacity Module is an internal component that can be fitted into the Fluke 1586A Super DAQ as required. It removes the need for the user to wire and re-wire the Fluke 1586A Super DAQ for each test application as the Fluke 1586-2586 High-Capacity Module can be configured to facilitate the required inputs for a particular check. Each high-capacity module can be configured to accommodate a variety of input types allowing it to measure thermocouples, RTDs, voltage, resistance and current simultaneously. A number of these high-capacity modules can be configured for a variety of tests and may be used interchangeably, thereby improving the efficiency of testing. The test setup for each high-capacity module can be saved to and recalled from the Fluke 1586A Super DAQ’s extensive memory, again saving the user time.

The Fluke 1586-2586 High-Capacity Module can be used with the Fluke 1586A Super DAQ to measure thermocouples to an accuracy of ±0.5°C. The Fluke 1586A Super DAQ can also measure thermistors to an accuracy of ±0.002°C and can measure PRTs to an accuracy of ±0.005°C when it is used with the Fluke DAQ-STAQ Multiplexer (NOT included). The Fluke 1586A Super DAQ includes a current reversal feature optimised to improve the accuracy of PRT/RTD measurements by limiting the effects of thermoelectricity.

Also working to improve the accuracy of the Fluke 1586A Super DAQ is its Channel Offset Zero function. This instrument also includes a number of other functions including a MAX + B and Alarm function. The Alarm function allows the user to set an upper- and lower-limit alarm for each of the active channels.

The Fluke 1586A Super DAQ can be configured to measure temperature, DC voltage, DC current and resistance for up to forty channels. HOWEVER; this vast measurement capability requires ADDITIONAL instruments such as Fluke’s  DAQ-STAQ Multiplexers. Models supplied with these additional instruments are available here:

The Fluke 1586A Super DAQ can be set to a sample rate of up to ten channels per second. In addition to this, it includes a number of measurement modes allowing the user to collect extensive information and analyse acquired data. These modes include:

  • Scan: scan through tests utilising user-defined tests
  • Monitor: any single channel can be monitored throughout a scan without interrupting the process
  • Measure: measure and record data for a single channel without a pre-configured test file
  • DMM (digital multimeter): measure DC voltage, DC current, 2-wire/4-wire resistance without having to configure channels. The front panel of the Fluke 1586A Super DAQ can be used as a multimeter when this mode is engaged. Furthermore, its colour display has a 6.5-digit resolution for indicating the results of these measurements.
  • Historical: historical data contained within a scan file can be viewed using this mode. It can be displayed in a tabular or graphical format and the user is able to change between these formats as he/she requires.

Data can be viewed in real-time via the Fluke 1586A Super DAQ’s colour display. Up to four channels can be monitored, viewed and plotted when using the graphical format. The user is able to zoom in and out on particular data points and monitor trends when viewing data in a graph. Alternatively, all the data for all the active channels can be viewed in a tabular format. The extensive display capabilities of the Fluke 1586A Super DAQ remove the need for a PC or charting software in order to conduct data analysis.

Furthermore, this data acquisition system’s 20MB, internal, non-volatile memory is capable of storing up to 75 000 time-stamped readings. These measurements are protected by two levels of data security ensuring that data-traceability is maintained. This makes the Fluke 1586A Super DAQ particularly well suited to applications regulated by governmental and/or agency standards.

Its compatibility with Fluke’s TQSoft and TQAero Thermal Validation Software (NOT included) also add to this instrument’s suitability for temperature data acquisition applications regulated by governmental and/or agency standards. These software programs can be used as an audit trail management system and can be used to document results, create reports and provide complete qualification.

Data transferred to a computer can be viewed in a Microsoft Excel file. The user is able to transfer saved measurements to his/her PC using a USB flash drive or via a network using a LAN interface connection.

The Fluke 1586A Super DAQ is a comprehensive, sophisticated, versatile instrument that can be configured to perform a variety of tasks including:

  • Process sensor calibration
  • Temperature validation
  • Thermal mapping
  • Verifying process control
  • Analysing interactive systems
  • Ensuring conformance to quality standards
  • Correlating related events for R&D or troubleshooting

The Fluke 1586A Super DAQ also includes an Automated Sensor Calibration function. This function is designed for use when the Fluke 1586A Super DAQ is connected to one of Fluke’s Dry Wells or Fluid Calibration Baths. The user needs only enter a few specifications (see below) and the instruments will automatically perform the sensor calibration. The Fluke 1586A Super DAQ only requires the following setup specifications:

  • Number of temperature setpoints
  • Values of the temperature set points
  • Scan sequence (choose between linear, alternate or up/down)
  • Assign a reference channel
  • Set the required stability band

The Fluke 1586A Super DAQ uses the reference channel to ascertain when a stable temperature has been reached; it will then collect the relevant data before moving on to the next setpoint.

The versatility and sophistication of the Fluke 1586A/1HC Super DAQ with 1 High-Capacity Module makes it ideal for technicians, engineers and quality control personnel, particularly those working in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food processing, aerospace and automotive industries.
