Fluke 1551A-X Calibration Stik Thermometer

The Fluke 1551A-X Calibration Stik Thermometer can be used to measure temperatures between -50 and 160°C. It is available in three models that vary in regards to the length of their stainless steel probes; please see the table below for further information.

The Fluke 1551A-X Calibration Stik Thermometer serves as a practical, intrinsically safe (ATEX and IECEx compliant) alternative to traditional mercury-in-glass thermometers. It is suitable for use outdoors, in areas where explosive gases may be present, and in processing plants. This makes it particularly useful to process manufactures of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, and petroleum products where inaccuracies in temperature can affect the accuracy of volumetric measurements.

Accuracy and reliability are at the forefront of this product’s design. It is supplied with an NVLAP- accredited and NIST-traceable calibration. The stainless steel probe and readout unit have been calibrated together and it includes a three-point calibration function allowing the user to recalibrate the Fluke 1551A-X Calibration Stik Thermometer quickly and easily.

This instrument has an accuracy of ±0.05°C over its full range; the specification includes all uncertainty components such as drift for up to one year. This ensures that the displayed temperature is the accurately measured temperature, removing the need for the user to carry out additional calculations to account for uncertainties, as is necessary with mercury thermometers.  Further to this, unlike with mercury thermometers, it is not necessary for external conditions to match the calibration conditions in order to ensure accurate measurements.

Moreover, the Fluke 1551A-X Calibration Stik Thermometer includes a stability indicator which alerts the user to when the temperature is suitably stable for recording an accurate temperature reading. This function will also indicate when the temperature source is trending upwards or downwards. The low-battery indicator and stop-measure function work to prevent the user from conducting inaccurate measurements caused by low battery power.

In addition to this, the Fluke 1551A-X Calibration Stik Thermometer includes a user-settable Auto-Off function which can be used to extend the longevity of this instrument’s battery life to up to 300 hours.

Temperatures can be viewed in either °C or °F and to a user-selectable resolution of 0.1, 0.01 or 0.001, thereby allowing the operator to tailor the thermometer to the application. Measurements are viewable via the backlit, LCD display which is able to rotate 90°, ensuring that it can always be easily seen.

Also adding to this instrument’s practicality, as well as its accuracy, is the inclusion of a thin-film RTD sensor which is at once both less susceptible to drift and more resilient than a mercury thermometer. The risk of mercury spills is completely eradicated with this thermometer.  

Furthermore, with the inclusion of this robust probe, the Fluke 1551A-X Calibration Stik Thermometer only requires an immersion depth of 7cm/ 2.8” and accuracy of measurement is not compromised by heat loss caused by stem conduction.
